Hi all,
Once again I am having more issues but this time it's with both DD's

Boths girls lately when doing a number 2 in there nappies, seem to be doing pebbles, they look like little rocks, but there not too hard. Sometimes there poo's are really grainy like sand also  Neither of the girls look like there in any pain at all while doing a poo.

Last week I spoke to the HCCN about this and she suggest giving them more water, I have tried this but it's not working. I called her again today as she said to give it a week and I can't se eher again for another 2 weeks as she is completly booked.

Ok the little pebbles like a sheep does most often means there is a problem like constipation, if the increase in water has not helped you could try orange juice, orange and other fruits high in natural acid. Licorice also helps (but not sure if the kids would eat it)
failing that you could go to a chemist and pick u some coloxyl drops or para choc and see if there is an improvement then

Hope this helps

My 15month DD is exactly the same(pebbles), I have tried everything, brown sugar etc i just give her pear juice everyday but it only seems to make it alittle softer...
Have you tried pear juice? Maybe brown sugar might work for your DD's(it used to for mine when she was younger)

wishing you the best of luck.
Sorry for the slight derailment.

but ds wont drink water, so i occasionally put 10ml extra in a milk bottle..
coloxyl does work well (mmm smells like baileys), but of course thats not a cure!

Maybe you could try removing their gluten for a week or two? Gritty/sandy poo can been associated with coeliacs. (Mind you, I get that if I eat cashews!) Isecond the advice re getting more water.... once you figure out the "right" amount, you'd be surprised at the result. For me, it's 3 litres a day, any less and I pay for it dearly for the next week or two while I heal

never knew that bout coeliacs, learn something new everyday.

when my son was constipated i had to syringe prune juice into him. or i'd mix it in with his porridge or weetbix.
