Hey all! I have posted on here before regarding possible autism and have since started thinking my son may be more towards the aspergers end of the spectrum, (if on the spectrum at all?)

Some things he does:

*is in speech therapy as has speech delay/disorder (incorrect pronunciation constantly, only 3 words) yet is always making "noise" which I think are verbal stims.. lots of "d,d,d,d,d,d,d,d", hmmmmms, ummmms, high pitched squeals, grunting when excited (definately sounds "abnormal")
*has completed a sensory profile & has high threshhold for vestibular senses, low for auditory, low for tactile
*low muscle tone, late walker (18 months), has flat feet & may need orthotics
*oral motor issues, cannot chew his food, doesnt seem to know how to.. this ability did not come naturally for him for some unknown reason & he is still being fed mushy food via a spoon
*seems to walk off & seems to be in his own world, looking down at his feet, doesnt respond to me calling him
*fixates on toys (but dont all kids?)
*loves to dance around the room waving his arms (but dont all kids?)
*prefers to play on his own
*frightened of playing with more than 2 kids (large groups etc)
*very very shy around others (except family)

Does not flap, does not line up toys and is very interactive with others (looks you in the eyes alot, follows commands very well) is very comprehensive of commands and what I am saying to him.

I should add that he was assessed recently by an OT and she said he's at the level he should be for fine motor skills and is actually at a 2.5yr old level for things like stacking blocks etc ... interesting considering aspies commonly are good at stacking things :)

Any suggestions? Is verbal stimming "normal" for typical children, or is it mainly seen in ASD kids?
Do any of you have an aspie (said in a very affectionate way of course) child? If so what symptoms did they display at such a young age (2 yrs)?
