My beautiful Goddaughter is making her Communion in August and I'm undecided as to which gift to buy her.
There's the gorgeous Communion bracelet with her name on it:
Bracelet (https://www.girlytwirly.com/shop/showProd.asp?prod=2386) - it says 'the ultimate Godmother gift' so that's got to be good!
or
The equally as gorgeous HisStory beaded bracelet
HisStory bracelet (http://www.catholicsupply.com/christmas/12650.html)
which tells the story of Jesus in different beads etc.
I could call her Mum and ask what Abbey would prefer but I want it to be a surprise.
I've got to decide though because I'll have to order it, wait for it to be made and then shipped from the States.
Would do you think?

Both bracelets are gorgeous, the pearl is my favourite. Good luck making a choice, it's a tricky one.

I'll further confound your choices. Have a look at http://www.sistersofcarmel.com/ for some stunning handmade rosaries, chaplets etc.
The items are handmade by the Carmelite nuns to order, and are simply beautiful.
Wow, I am glad to know these are out there
I would go with the pearls, for their simplicity. She will be able to wear them always without things being caught, and as the site says, have them resized for her own wedding.

I suppose I could get the pearl one for her Communion and then get her the HisStory bracelet for her Confirmation, when she's a little older.
Those rosary beads are just beautiful aardvark!
My cousins brought some rosary beads home from The Vatican for the boys after their last trip...needless to say I've put them away in a very safe spot!

She turns 10 the day before her Communion.

Mmmmm that makes it tougher. One one hand the "story" bracelet is great for younger kids- coulourful, meaningful etc adn the pearl one is very grown up and sophisticated.
On a purely superficial level the pearl one is the winner. On a 10 year old girl level, the pearl one will make her feel very grown up and important. But if you followed it up with the story bracelet, I think the story one would lose it's impact.
My understanding is the that confimation is done when the child is of a certain age and is more " grown up" so maybe teh pearl one would e perfect for the confirmation instead.
But since I am completely unreligious, maybe you should so the opposite from what I suggest :D
