Hi there
i was wondering if anyone knows what happens if you get the rubella virus during pregnancy?
I recently had complication during my pregnancy where she has multiple abnormalities and the doctors had no explaination for them.
I know i was low on the rubella needle but am not sure if i had the virus or not.
Can anyone give me any advice?

It's called German Measles. You could ask your GP if he thinks it is possible you got it and I think he could test for it.

I don't know if this is any help.

I have actually had rubella - it does make you sick, I had a rash all over my body, high temp, aching joints and gigantic swollen glands (really huge).

I don't think yu could miss it.

It's my understanding that rubella causes hearing problems if the foetus is exposed, I don't know about anything else.

Hope all goes well with your baby.

Not sure if it is still the same but my mum had the rubella needle when she was pregnant with me (1979) but before she knew she was pregnant.
The Dr actually advised her to abort me but I had started moving and she said she just couldn't do it. SO there is actually a fairly long list of things that can be caused by the rubella/German measles virus/vaccine:
Deafness
Blindness (I am mostly blind in my left eye and have next to no periferral (sp) vision or depth perception which had little impact on my diy to day life other than to freak out the drivers licence people:laughing:)
Physical disablilites (not sure how severe)
and intelectual disabilities too I think.
Wishing you all the very best for you and your little one.:hugs:

I agree, I think you would know if you have had te German Measles (Rubella), I had it and it was awful! Covered in red itchy spots.

My Grandmother had it in one of her pregnancies and my uncle was born deaf.
