Hi all,

I have a 14mth old DD. She likes tuna, and I would also really like her to eat fresh fish as its really good for them  . I don't like fish myself and don't cook it so was wondering if any of you have a fish recipe you make for your toddlers that they really enjoy?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can toddlers have gherkin? I can't remember if you're "supposed" to give it to them or not.... I gave DD a tuna bake when she was 1, I can't remember exactly how many months she was (geez I sound sooo clever don't I...)

Anyway :chef: Tuna, some cooked shell pasta, some grated cheese and some chopped gherkin (or gherkin relish), mix well and put in microwave until cheese is melted and it's all kinda gooey :D It can be mashed up a bit if it's too chunky but generally it's soft enough for little mouths.

Does she eat mashed potato? If so you could add some cooked mashed/shredded fish to it, maybe a little cheese sauce too? I think you could probably fry up the fish/potato mixture (minus sauce) in little patties and give it to her that way....could even add some other vegies in them if you wanted. Good Luck!

I add tuna to mashed vegies and couscous.

Or tuna with couscous and cheese sauce. Tuna with rice.

Buy a fillet of white fish....or any fish for that matter. put it on some tin foil and then put some of whatever you like. I put some ginger, garlic, and coriander and then wrap up the fish in a parcel and bake in a moderate oven for 20min.
You could put anything in the parcel, lemon, butter, parsley...anything!
with some mashed veges....mmm

(tuna is pretty much the best oily fish that is at a decent price... I use it tinned rather than buying any other fresh fresh fish - which is hardly ever 'fresh' anyway lol)

You can use fresh fish fillets to make fish cakes ...

By boneless fillets, throw into a food blender/processor with some herbs, lemon juice, garlic.. whatever you like..

Mash some potato, add the fish mix, roll into balls, coat in breadcrumbs and oven bake or fry till cooked.

YUM! YUM! YUM!!

My (nearly) 9m old will only eat finger foods (refuses to let anyone feed her - Little Miss Independant must do it herself!) so in desperation, I turned to some toddler recipes! Here is one for fish fingers (slightly modified by me!) that she absolutely adores!

1 x 180g tin of tuna (salt reduced)
1 large potato
1 large chunk of sweet potato
1/3 cup peas
1/2 onion grated
1 carrot grated
1/3 cup grated tasty cheese
Self Raising flour
Plain flour
Breadcrumbs

(you can also use corn kernels & grated zucchini in this recipe if you like)

Cook the potato & sweet potato until tender. Cool then mash.
Add remaining ingredients & mix well (use just enough SR flour & breadcrumbs to bind it well together)
Shape into finger-size pieces and coat lightly with plain flour & breadcrumbs.
Cook slowly in a lightly greased pan.
Suitable to freeze.

These are so yummy I'll occasionally sneak one for myself!!;)
