Hi all
My babe is a clothie (old style) but at night he is in disposables. Terrible I know. He sleeps to through to 5.30 so is in his nappy a long time before a change and I know that he would wet through a normal cloth nappy before then and then I would have to get up and change him. Not in winter thank you!:shame:
What do other mothers and fathers use. I would like you to tell me what the best option of a modern nappy would be. Also the costs involved and where I could get these nappies from.
Please spell out the nappy lingo because I read posts and I dont have a clue what you are talking about!
Thanks Mel

At nights I use the Eenee nappies. What you do is buy the Eenee you can buy them 2nd hand on e-bay or new from www.eenee.com.au they are $25 brand new but a hell of alot cheaper 2nd hand. At nights you then get your flat nappy (square nappy you are already using) and fold it into a pad shape so about 4 rectangles then fold into half and that is a pad shape.
Then insert the pad shaped nappy into the Eenee and velcro up! And voila your done!;)

My son also wore cloth nappies (terries and kushies) but I found no matter what I tried (double nappies, extra padding) he was always wet through in the morning unless I put him in a disposable at night.

Hi there,
My girl is also in cloth during the day but disposables at night. I would love to have her in cloth at night too but she wees A LOT and will often wet through a disposable by morning. I think this is because she still has lots of booby at night.
I think some babies are just big wetters and I try to put her in the more natural disposables to save her poor bottem.

sorry - just want to write an add-on to the question: my little one does a HUGE amount of poo (& wee - she's in disposables overnight & i have to change her 2 - 3 times!!) - so what's the safest option so that i don't need to change her clothes as well as nappy overnight? & while i'm at it - what's the best cover fore fitted disposable nappies?
*hope i'm not intruding on the topic, just didn't want to start a new one for a similar problem...*

I use the green kids nappies at night.
www.greenkids.com.au
They have a PUL outer ( waterproof, but breathable) & you insert absorbant materials inside. I use a hemp insert & at nights I add a microfibre insert. It lasts all night 11-12 hours!!

I'm using a old fashioned cloth nappy with a cheap facewasher from Spotlight folded in half down the middle of the nappy, and a fluffies pilcher over it.
He goes to bed about 9:30 pm, and is usually not changed again until about 7:00am, and rarely would he soak through.
We use a Sandra's Stuffable PUL pocket (which is shaped like a disposable with an inside layer of microfleece for the staydry feel against the skin and PUL on the outer whihc is waterproof yet breathable and a 'pocket' at the back so you can stuff with as much absorbant material as needed) stuffed with one Mother of Eden microfibre terry (from www.theweewuns.au.com) and one Sandra's Stuffable's thick hemp booster (3 times more absorbant than cotton so is still trim). This lasts us 12hrs overnight.
If you want a cheaper variation of the old fashion terry nappies that might help last longer at night - try using some bamboo or hemp boosters (if you can sew, just buy the fabric and overlock/hem into a pad shape) between the nappy and the cover (it will help to draw moisture away from the terry and then use a wool cover. Wool is very breathable so will allow evaporation to occur during the night leaving you with a drier nappy than if you have a non breathable cover.

We use the Green Kids Dreamytimes ( which is a fleece pocket ) but they arent available anymore :o but Sandra Stuffables does a pocket fleece nappy that is similar its breathable which allows air flow so a lot of the wetness evapourates. A heavy hemp insert wrapped around a microfibre insert placed into the pocket & we last 12-13hrs. DS is a very very heavy wetter so its great especially as he would often go through a disposy !
We have also used the Greens Anytimes pockets & Baby Bloomers pockets which are both a PUL nappy with great success also with the same insert as above.

Of late I have my DD using either a MissyMoo fleece pocket nappy ($15 to $19 depending on what one you get) with a Greenkids hemparoo insert ($11) as well as a Greenkids Microfibre insert ($5.50) or she wears a Babybeehinds bamboo nappy with a wool cover (also avail from Babybeehinds).
DD is a heavy wetter and of late has been doing lots of poos  and so far none have escaped either nappy.

We use Bamboo at night times.
Now, granted my cloth-bummed-babe is only 8.5 weeks old :D but I was having to change him at every night-time feed (only 3 times a night, so not too bad). But now that his poo-ing has settled down to only a couple times a day, I've discovered that Bamboo will last all night long with no leaks and no wetness on him. If he feels wet he will let me know, he HATES the feel of a wet nappy on him. But Bamboo seems to do the trick!
Now that I've mastered breastfeeding in the dark, and because the nappy doesn't need changing (unless he does happen to poo overnight - which I would know even in the dark because his farts would wake the dead!) all I have to do when he wakes up is pick him up, feed him, and put him back down when he falls asleep at the boob. His night-time sleeps are getting much better since we've started using Bamboo, and I think it's because I don't have to take him into the other room, switch on a light, and take off his warm jarmies in the middle of the night to change a wet nappy.
For a cover, if he's wearing a BB Bamboo I put on a BB PUL cover because they fit perfectly over it. If he's wearing a Tots Bots Bamboozle I put on a TB fleece cover. I've also got one Bubba J Bamboo, but that doesn't do as good a job as the others. It's still great, but the BB's and the TB's last all night wonderfully, and are definitely my night-nappies of choice.
Also, the word on the street is that the absolute best night-nappies are Erica's VBSN (Very Baby Simply Nights) but they have been known to sell on Ozebaby for around the $70-$80 mark. No I'm not joking here's proof (http://www.ozebaby.com.au/store.php?SS=33)
The other one that all the clothies are talking about is the Sandman: Nappy Chappies Sandman (http://www.ozebaby.com.au/store.php?SS=28)
But I think you have to experiment and see what works with your baby and his/her bladder :D. At the moment, Bamboo works for us. But I would love a VBSN to just see what all the fuss is about....

i used to use cloth on my eldest girl, but only because we couldnt afford disposables.. i used one at night though cause she always used to wet through, i just used the black and gold ones at night for her cause they were the cheapest for us cause couldnt afford anything else, so im glad they worked for her! but with my second girl, i use disposable all the time, and ill be honest, i use whatever is on special at the time and its mainly been snugglers, babylove or huggies, so ive just moved to bigger nappies cause shes a big wetter for my second girl and it seems to do the job! atm using babylove for night time, see how they go...hope they work ok this time, havent had much luck any other time...:fingerscrossed::rolleyes:
Have you tired just using the old cloth but use 2, like a double nappy. That is what I did with all 3 of my daughters and never had a problem with leakage.
