View Full Version : Nappy Rash?
Hi every1, Cassie has woken up this morning with nappy rash,,,, really bad nappy rash, like she has 4 blister things that look like they are pussing. I don't know what cream to use, i have bepanthan, what do you use? also i am using cloth nappies, do you think it would be better to use disposables until its gone? am i better to leaver her nappy off as much as possible?
Sorry for all the questions but it looks sore!
It sounds like a bit more than nappy rash, it could be a fungal infection of some sort. Maybe see a doctor or MCHN if you can to find out what you should put on it? Or you could explain to a pharmacisit what it looks like and they could recommed something.
If it it thrush or something you will need a cream such as canesten or daktarin.
Hope it clears up soon!
Lozie I would take her to the Doctors too, doesn't sound like usual nappy rash to me so you may need to be prescribed ointment for it. Let us know how you go.
I would leave her in cloth until you know whats happening as a change could make it worse. Also had you changed washing powders or anything recently? Just a thought.
Don't foget though, you can't use a lot of creams with the cloth, unless you put a liner in.
The one I've found works best for Chais is the Curash one. He gets the welts at times from the acidic teething poos & this is the only one that heals it.
Hope you can get it cleared up & it's not causing her too much pain.
Oh poor Cass...
Can't say Kian has suffered with nappy rash at all... sometimes it is a bit red but nothing uncomfortable or sore. I have 2 creams, a palmers cocoa butter one (which smells amazing) and sudocreme. But I've probably only used them a few times.
Let us know how you get on though. Poor Cass.
Sorry to crash, my DS had this and it was thrush, i went to doc who gave me some cream (daktorin or daktozin, one is for oral thrush, which he had also) does your bub have little white spots in her mouth?? if so then she has oral thrush which goes all the way through them. For normal nappy rashes i use Sudocrem, its magic, magic stuff. But if cream doesnt clear it i would be taking her to the doc.
Good Luck :)
I agree with Kota, if it is nappy rash you cant use barrier creams without a liner in cloth nappies. I use Sudocreme when DS's bum gets a bit red and use a sposie, usually after a few hours its gone and I go back to cloth.

:iagree: Daktozin, sounds like it might be more a fungal type rash now. Daktozin will fix it quickly.Daktozin is the cream for bums and daktarin is the oral gel. But just because bub has a sore bottom, does not mean thrush in the mouth for sure, but it wont harm checking.
Actually you can get Daktarin, for oral and bottom thrush, they make two types. I have used the Daktarin, for hubby's tinea it is the same cream.
You can also use, canasten, Daktozin, Clozole, there are heaps of them on the market.
If it is thrush, a pharmacist, should be able to identify thrush. Or the health nurse. You don't necessarily have to see a doctor.
And when treating thrush, use the fungal cream first, and apply a barrier cream over the top. It will help heaps. Stops the sting.
Hope it heals soon.
DD is just getting over a fungal nappy rash. I first noticed a raised lump on her girly bits, took her to doc & all of a sudden some spots appeared on her bum. He prescribed hydrozole as it was a fungal infection. Her bottom got slightly redder in the next day or 2 but is almost totally clear now. I'm still able to use a barrier cream with the fungal cream.
Another thing to check is if it's possiblt foot & mouth. This also has blisters in mouth & accompanied by a temp.
Hey, thanks every1 went to the drs today, he said it just looks like really bad nappy rash, he said to keep using bepanthan, and leave her nappy off as much as possible, he said if its still there Monday to come back. fingers crossed it disappears. its not very red anymore she has had no nappy on all day. except when im feeding her at tonight she has so much barrier cream on her bum tonight!
Oh great news Loz... here's to a healthy bum Cassie!
