View Full Version : All out of whack
Can any body help me out. We are just begning our road to conceive and had decided to stop the pill at the end of this cycle. I lost my pill packet with 4 days to go on the pink tablets ( dont ask me how I think I have put it in the wash then the dyer)so we decided not to panic and just let it go.
Well needless to say bang one day off the pill and my period comes on the 1st when it owuld not have arrived tilt he 6th. Will this throw out my ovulaiton or being able to count days etc or wil I just have to wait until my next period then start from then?
I pretty well knwo when I am ovulating as they seem to pop out liek bullets bang ont he 14 dyas before.
Any help? I want to start on the right foot here.
:) Thanx

Hi India  . It really depends on you and your cycles. I think a lot of women on this forum have ovulated quite late in their first cycle off the pill. I don't think when you stopped taking the pill would effect your cycle, as you shouldn't have been ovulating on the pill anyway.
Hope this helps a bit!
Thanx little fish..has been a while since I have been off the pill and rememebr it all just got to get myself back in the swing of counting and paying attention to things.
India - you've had no cycle when being on the pill, so there's nothing to stuff up. You can count your first day of this cycle as your first day of AF, regardless of whether you took too few or too many pills. Like little fish, i'm a little confused about how you are so certain about when you ovulate having been on the pill?
Sorry should have said I used to know when I ovulated before being on the pill..was just hoping it would be the same now I have stopped.
OK now I understand. In that case, you're good to go. It may take while for the length of your cycle to sort itself out in the months coming off the pill, so make sure you monitor yourself to track O, rather than just assuming it will be on CD14. I just assumed my cycles would be the same as they were before going on the pill (around 25 days), but the first couple off the pill were unusally long (around 28-29 days) and so I totally miscalcuated my first couple of months. My cycles gradually got shorter over the following months and are now back to my pre-pill length.

Hello  . I dont think it would matter if you missed a couple of pills because the first day of your period is the first day of your cycle. You will ovulate when your body is ready within this cycle. My obstetrician says it is possible to get pregnant in the first month you come of the pill, so dont waste the opportunity. BD lots. However, it can take a few months for your cycles to settle down after coming off the pill. All the best .
Thanx chicken thats good to know . I promised myself I wouldnt get too caught up in it and let my body rest from the pill for a while but darn it if once i got to reading on this site if I havent gotten all over excited and wanted to know it all and have a baby NOW!!!! :smiliedance: *L*.
I will just keep a record of things for a while and give myself time to breathe.
I am glad I joined up here.
Hi India
Best of luck - and don't discount your first few months of the pill, I hear they can be lucky for some  .
Silly me went of the pill 2 months early to let it get out of my system. Turns out those first two cycles were my shortest and most normal LOL.
