And for what?

Last night I got up 6 times for 2 bottles (Zane), 2 night terrors (Olivia) and to resettle Zane twice, second of which he ended up in bed with me. Was 4.30am and I was over it.

I am pretty used to this and I know it won't last forever but I guess I am feeling a little run down of late and want to feel better by hearing how crap sleep anyone else is getting :o.

The saddest thing is I am having an op next wednesday and I can't wait! Not for the surgery but for the rest. I am going to get three nights in a row of great sleep!!!

I don't class putting the dummy back in or resettling without a feed sleeping through either so tell me whats happnin in your house in the wee hours :D

I dont get up most nights. I breast feed and dd is either in the cot next to my bed or in bed with me. If she's in the cot she'll have a feed between 1 - 4 (so any time really ) and then again early morning - sometimes she goes back to sleep, sometimes she doesn't.
If she's in bed with me she just helps herself to feeds during the night :)

I have everything crossed as I type this, in the hope of not jinxing anything

Since I've taken Cruz to the chiro, I can't believe how well he sleeps. It's amazing!

I've changed his day bottles to work better for me at night, so he has his last bottle around 8pm, and we usually go to bed around 10pm. (depends how long it takes me to do the dishwasher, load the washing machine ready for the morning, iron clothes for 5 people, pack the kids school bags & nappy bag & anything else that needs doing)

So I class my night from about 10pm till 6.30am which is when I get up. In that time, Cruz has 1 bottle. It's been falling anywhere between 2am and 4 am. Sometimes he needs his dummy put back in around 5am.

What sucks for me is the morning rush. I have to be up at 6.30 to have a shower before DP leaves for work. Chais wakes up anywhere from 6.30-7.30am. All 4 kids need to have breakfast & get dressed & out the door by 8.30am to get the older 2 to school on time.

Cheerio- Good luck for the surgery, but I agree, 3 nights sleep would be bliss. Please enjoy on the behalf of all of us

Sounds like its all working out pretty well for you Tegan. Unfortunately breastfeeding didn't work out for us this time around. Last time I could never breastfeed laying down anyway as I have bazooka boobs which go flat as pancakes when laying flat and attachment was pretty close to impossible. Glad its working well for you though.

up until about 2 weeks ago i never had to get up as both babies slept through the night but thats far from the case these days... on average every night i have to get up about 2 times for each baby... Maddy usually wakes a 12:30am as she wants to get up but not for a feed... then she wakes at about 3:30am for a feed and Lucas usually wakes at about 1:00am (he's not hungry) and i just have to resettle him and then he wakes again at 4:00am for a feed!!

Last night though was an absolute shocker and im hoping its not the signs of more to come... I was awake every hour on the hour for boht babies and what made it worse was they were half an hour diff in waking so for example Maddy woke at 10pm, 11pm, 12am and so on until 5am and Lucas woke 10:30pm, 11:30pm, 12:30am and so on until 6:30am. I have no idea why this happend and today i cant even think straight and there morning nap this morning they both napped at diff times so i havent even been able to have a lie down.. im sill in my pjs as i cant even be bothered getting out of them...

Im just hoping they have a sleep this afternoon at the same time otherwise i dont know how im going to get through the rest of the day :-(

hi, i dont want to upset anyone, but the waking up through the night doesn't end when the baby stage is over, just wait till the menopause. Make sure you enjoy ANY night that you can sleep though when ever it happens, hahah, Marie.

LOL Marie, you sound exactly like my mum who is going through "the change" at the moment much to her disgust! I don't dare talk to her about sleeplessness at the moment

We do a last feed at 730pm and he goes to bed at 8pm. He generally stays asleep till 6am with one or two gets to put the dummy back in. At 6am I put him in bed with me till 7am get up bath/dress/feed.

Works well for us :)

My DS has been such a champ lately. He goes to bed at 6pm, so DH and I have a nice dinner and watch a bit of TV. Then I give him a dreamfeed at about 9:30pm before I go to bed. Last night he woke at 2am for a feed, then he woke at 5:30am, but I think he was a bit cold, so DH got up and put him in bed with us, then he slept until about 7am when I got up and fed him again.
:fingerscrossed: That this continues, because I couldn't go back to the 2 hourly waking during the night! My trade off is that he only catnaps during the day and BF's every 2 hours...

Kian generally goes to bed about 8pm... Hubby wakes him for a feed at 11.30/12 and he sleeps till 7.30/8am So I don't get up at all to him. We talked about trying to skip this feed and see what happens, but I don't want to just yet because he needs the milk.

But... the bl**dy greyhound! OMG!!!! 5 blasted times last night. I was ready to kill by this morning when she woke me yet again at 5.30!!!!

All these well sleeping babies make me sick! Get down on your knees Mammas and praise the sleep gods for being so blessed.

Kyky, this post should make you feel better. Lincoln has been sick the past three nights in a row, I have been getting up to him every 30-60mins for comfort feeds, cuddles and general hell. Im also sick.

My house is hell. I feel like death warmed up.

Hope you feel better!

 I loved the sleepgods bit!!!! I have been cursed by the sleepgods twice!!!!!!! Zane isn't as bad as Olivia was though.

Sorry you are having a rough time Lilahh, I so hope you both feel better soon :hugs:

The good thing is this time will pass, it won't be like this forever, even though it feels like it. Look at my DD shocker shocker sleeper day and night and now at 2 asks to go to bed

Oliver has a bottle around 9pm and goes to sleep around 10pm then i give him a bottle at 12am, then he goes straight back in the bassinet and i goto bed and then he wakes up around 5.30 for a bottle and then from then on he has lil cat naps and wakes and fusses and i constantly put the dummy back in...at about 7 i bring him in with me and we sleep till about 9.

when we move him into his own room (in about 6 weeks) it'll get worse having to walk to the other end of the house to put that blasted dummy back in.

I have my boys in a pretty good routine now.

They have bath then feed around 7pm and 7.30pm and straight to bed.

Usually wake once around 4am and my hubby does the feed for both boys, if one is alseep we wake them both so we don't have to get up again in a half hours time...

Then they generally wake around 5.30ish to play and then I start the day again at 7am...

I start their days always at 7am and 7.30am

They are on 4 hour feeds so it goes
7am and 7.30am
11am and 11.30am
3pm and 3.30pm

Now I am flexable with this they are not always feed on these time sometimes it is a bit early but I stick to it as much as I can.

Can I take my earlier post back... DS went to bed at 6pm, then woke up screaming at 7pm, and again at 8pm :hissy:. I hope this isn't going to go on all night.... why did I say anything???
He did roll over for the first time today, do they sometimes have bad sleep after doing something new?

I have been very lucky, cassie loves her sleep just like her mum! she has a feed anywhere between 6.30 and 7.30 straight to bed, then sleeps until 7am. fingers crossed after sayin this she will sleep right through tonight!

My boy was sleeping from around 8ish through to around 7.30am or so but every night I held my breath as I've heard it can change at the drop of a hat. The hat, I think, has dropped. The last two nights he's been up at 3.30am then he's been up again by 7am at the latest. I'm going to dream feed him tonight I think in the hopes he might sleep through to 6 or 7am. Fingers crossed. Still, if it's only one wake up through the night, then I feel very lucky. It was rather more often than that in the beginning.

Mine used to sleep from midnight through to 6 am then we went on a holiday to my mums and they started waking at 3 am again. They are SLOWLY getting rid of that 3 am feed again. They only wake for feeds at night thankfully but I don't really have them in bed by a certain time, I should really get some sort of routine happening.

Anna333 - Absolutely they can have a rubbish night after mastering new skills. Cause quite often there's a whole range of new things going on not just one thing. And they often want extra comforting and cuddles as their limited view of the world begins to change. Or so the research says! :)

And ladies I do know I am incredibly lucky to have been so blessed by the 'sleep gods' as far as Kian is concerned. I'm thinking the greyhound may need extra help though...valium anyone?

Not at all. Neither child wakes up during the night unless they are ridiculously cold or if DS has a nightmare, but that's rare.
We re VERY lucky!
When DS was a bubba, he was waking every 2 hours.

I dont get up at all unless she's unwell. Because she goes 12-13hours a night between feeds if I do get up I just make sure she's not too cold, put in the dummy and she goes back to sleep.

For those of you that do have baby's that sleep through the night, are you breast or bottle feeding?

I'm breastfeeding, and my DS has slept through from about 3.5 weeks...he is now almost 10 weeks. He feeds 3-4 hourly between 8am and 11pm, then sleeps from 11-8am. Feeling very blessed!!!!

Same here for DD...she slept through from 3.5weeks. She was sleeping till 7/7.30 but has brought this back to usually 6/6.30....

bath and BF at 6.30ish..usually leaving her room around 7.15/7.30. Then 180ml EBM dreamfeed somewhere between 10 and 11.

Tegan I don' think it matters if breast or formula feeding unfortunately. In my mothers group half were formula half were breastfed and it made no difference. Some just do it others don't. Look at mine one breastfed, one formula and neither of them sleep well as babies!

I tried formula once with DD to see if would help our sleep situation and it didn't and then she refused bottles full stop, including EBM!

Meh, sleep is overated

i find that if DS has good day sleeps then he starts to sleep longer at night. When he gets his day sleeps out of whack, then he sleeps worse. I'm up 2-4x a night. Its easier to just feed him and put him back to sleep. I don't care at the moment about creating future bad habits cos of DS's low weight etc. Also i love the breatfeeding cuddles.

Aw thats lovely Jaspat. I must say that once I am awake I enjoy the feeding cuddles too. I love the quietness of night and its the only time i feel like Zane and I get those peaceful moments together without my two year old trying to kiss/hug/jump on him and I

My boys starting sleeping all night from about 4 months. Ever since 4 months it has really been magic! No more colic, more baby rewards etc. They sleep approx. 6-6 or 7-7 with a couple of dummy plugs :)

My little boy has slept through the night since about 5 weeks, put him down about 6.30pm and he wakes anytime from 7-9am but will happily play in his cot until someone wakes up, not sure if this has anything to do with it but he has been to the chiropractor since birth, I notice someone else commented about their child sleeping through after a chiropractor visit. My chiropractor has made a big difference with his reflux too. :yelclap:No dummies

I've taken DS to the chiro since he was 8 days old and he still doesn't sleep through. He has reflux too. He uses a dummy only for sleeps, but spits it out and replaces it with his fingers or nothing. I'm breastfeeding and occasionally give formula, but no combination of breast/formula will guarantee he'll sleep through; DS just needs me or more milk from me. As i said before though, that's what i'm here for, i'll get more sleep later in life!
