Just wanting some advice on paediatricians.... because DD is failing to gain weight. At the beginning of this month she lost 50 grams, put it back on the next week, but since then has not gained any weight(or lost) despite being put onto solids early at 5 and a bit months old.She has gained a bit of length,as has head circumference, but no weight!! She's 6 months old next week and only weighs 5.90kgs
She also didn't poo until today 16 DAYS after she started solids. And it was HUGE (sorry)
Anyway..The baby nurse I see at the chemist has suggested I see a paediatrician (I'm going to our doctors tomorrow,I'm assuming he'll send us to one
)and that he may want to run tests like give bub a barium (sp?) meal drink to check her insides etc and blood tests to see if something is blocking her up and causing the no weight gain.
Has anyone here had to do anything like this because of no weight gain and what tests were done? I hate the thought of anything being done to my girl. What was prescribed to get the weight gain going?
How much do paed's cost to see? Do they accept Medicare and Health care cards? Not that I care,I'll pay anything for my bub.
Also,is there usually a long waiting list to see one?
Thanks for listening.Any advice appreciated :)

Thanks Kylie
My doctor has suggested a few things to get DD's weight up and also her bowel movements,so we'll try those before running off to the paed, but I will keep that Doctor you mentioned in mind if we ever do have to go. :) Thanks again
