Hi all

Just curious to know.... those of you who have had a BFP if you knew exactly when you ovulated and BD accordingly....or was it just approximations and luck?

Thanks :D

Leliani - yes, when I got my BFP, I knew exactly when I'd O'd because I'd been using OPKs each month.

This time I'm also using Maybe Baby and charting temps, so I'll be doubly sure when I O.

I've been meaning to ask you, after reading on another one of your threads that you've been using OPKs but have never got a positive result, yet you are sure you are ovulating. Can I ask how you are sure you are ovulating? After about six months TTC unsuccessfully, I asked my GP whether I should get checked out to see if I was ovulating properly. I told her I was getting good OPK results and she said that was usually a good indication that everything was OK. Are you charting maybe?

Yes I knew exactly when I o'd - I have charted my cycles on and off for about 8 years now.
It is definitely much easier to get pregnant when you can "direct" your efforts to the times when it is actually possible for it to happen....ahem... :)
Sometimes people who are trying and not charting or temping are doing the deed at times that it's not even possible for them to fall pregnant, and then are stressed unecessarily that there's something wrong with them.
I think they should teach charting in schools but I am a bit of a charting nut :yelclap: I will be teaching my own daughter.
Good luck and I hope you get your BFP :)

I knew exactly too.. not from OPK's or Maybe baby (which didn't work for me).
But from CM and temp rise and ovulation pain,

Leilani,
I had no idea if or when o occured, my cycles where all over the place. I took vitex my last cycle and bd every second night from cd10 to cd20. Got my BFP that cycle.

Hi Chicken,
On day 21 of my cycle each month I am having a blood test (ordered by my specialist) to check hormone levels to see if I have ovulated. I am on Clomid at the moment to induce ovulation, but OPK warn that if you are using fertility drugs that you may not achieve a positive result (why???). They have never registered a positive result when I have definately ovulated (according to blood results).
Go figure?!?
Thanks for your reply!

Well that makes much more sense now. Have you been charting your temps? This may give you a better guide to when you are Oing?

I had no idea, we got lucky and were preg both times round in the first month:rolleyes: blind luck was all we needed for these two, who knows for the next one....(if we have a next one:p )

good luck with TTC:fingerscrossed:

I decided to use an OPK after a friend gave me her left over pack after falling preggie after one attempt.

I'm glad I used it, as I discovered I O'd 5 days later than the norm. So we BD'd as required  and sure enough we fell pregnant on the first try too.

Good luck TTC!

he he - you'd think so wouldn't you!!! I've had dips and spikes all over the place in the last few months!

Jan/ Feb /Mar: dip day 13 (36.1), spike day 14 (36.5), dip day 16 (36.0), spike day 18 (36.5), dip day 19 (36.0).
Mar/Apr:dip day 15 (36.1), spike day 16 (36.4)...constant incrrease until biggest spike day 19 (36.7)
Apr / May: dip day 14 (36.0), spike day 15 (36.4), dip day 16 (36.0), spike day 18 (36.7).....continued high temps until BIG DIP from 36.8 down to 36.2 on cd30. (I was crushed.....I thought for sure BFP that month  )

I am thinking O may be around cd 18....but it seems a bit late.
I tried FF once and mucked it all up. Cm is tricky too because we BD "just in case" and it makes it difficult to determine any changes.
Sigh.

.

Maybe not - I usually O on day 17 or 18 of a 29 day cycle.
All the "books" say that should give me a luteal phase that's too short but it's never been a problem.
Good luck!

Thanks ~Emmylou~ I have new hope! Gosh I can't believe you charted for 8 years! I guess by then you would have a VERY good idea of what is going on huh?

Thanks to everyone else for replying too! I was a bit curious to see the ratio of certain : lucky :p
