Just have two questions for everyone out there.

Does anyone have any good ideas about any good parenting books that deal with early toddlers yelling/tantrums (well, he's not really throwing massive tantrums, but he does do a fair bit of screaming/shouting/screeching!)

Also, any good ideas for some awesome toys. I think my toys are a bit boring now for the little one...

Thanks all

Happy parenting

Hi
Im not sure about the books but when you find one let me know as im having trouble with the tantys too !!!! Maybe it was the day they were born hehehehe.
Anyways with the toys i have found that Boof now loves his mega blocks ! Loves that he can pull everything apart etc hasnt really gotten the hang of them as such but still has loads of fun. We also got him a mega blocks pirate ship that makes sounds as all comes apart which means again he can tear it apart & put things together as they all interconnect in one way or another. Plus he loves the little pirates hehehe.
Otherwise he is still a huge fan of his peek-a-boo blocks which get stacked or he just loves talking to the animals inside them or making then do what they are meant to do ( shake, roll, squeak ).
Boof also loves music so we got this activity cube thing from Toys R Us which has a little keyboard on it as well as pressing different buttons etc play nursery rhymes.
He also loves his stuffed animals so happily carries them around & talks to them so im actually going to get him a doll soon to teach him to be gentle etc.
There are so many toys out there that its confusing but i think my thing is to go for the stuff he really likes whether it be music or building.
Good luck !

Hi
I got my little one the Little People Railway for her first birthday. She loved listening to the sounds and eating the little people!! Over the years family members have given her the rest of the Little People Town and she still plays with it at 4 years. (Everyone who comes over loves to play with it too)

As for tantrums, have you checked out this website www.fedupwithfoodadditives.com.au
May help, may not.
Good luck

Hello :) Unfortunately I can't help much in the toy department because my toddler is such a girly girl, thus I don't know much about little boys at all. But with the book question I recommend a book called "The Happy Toddler" by Chantel Gazal, its a really good book, it covers everything to do with ensuring your childs happiness and confidence. You should try and get a copy, theres a whole section on tantrums and other behaviour issues. I hope that helped. Good luck

I have the book called "The Mighty Toddler" by Robin Barker (same author as Baby Love) and it's a great book. It's got anwer's to absolutely everything, including tantrums, night terrors, eating / recipes, play  I got my copy from Big W, can't remember the price, but it was pretty cheap.

Re toys, we just bought DS2 for his birthday the Thomas the tank engine plastic railway (connecting pieces) and the plastic train station (with garages for the trains) - both the kids love it and it keeps them amused for ages. The Thomas trains cost a bit more, but they are very durable and hardy.

Im currently reading 'Every Parent' by Matthew Sanders. It is the 'bible' from the Positive Parenting Programme (PPP) and has been very helpful with the tantrums.
