I am aware there are other threads for the Thyroid and Goitre. I posted there and got no replies so I thought I would try my own.
Are there any women on here who have or have had Goitre?
I have an underactive Thyroid and for about 2 weeks now I have been feeling alot of pressure in my neck area with a bit of pain and it leads down my chest. I have tried drinking loads of water thinking I was dehyrated and it still wont go away...Its driving me MENTAL!
Thanks in Advance.

i have a multinodular goiter so not sure if yours is the same (mine is lots of little ones rather then one big one)
i constantly have a lump in my throat, i have gotten use to it though it is not too bad (but having so many allergies that swell y throat makes for a lot of fun most of the time )
i would suggest going for a scan to see if your goiter has grown :(
mine grew a little while pregnant with DD1 then a fair bit with our second bub (but not with DD2 :yelclap:), both times i noticed the change because of the pressure in my neck.
I have a multinodular goiter as well. When I first found out about it I was scared. For the past 3 years I have been having scans & biopsy on a large cyst. Mine is now becoming smaller and I only have the scans annually rather then 6 months. My levels are fine though.
You will need a referral to see an endocrinologist and also to have a scan from your GP. They will be able to sort out your levels as well with Meds.

I was on 50mg of Thyroxine and had been for a year,I have now been put on to 100mg as my levels were a big mess.
I was in the range of 47.4 for t3.
I am going to try and get an appointment with my DR tomorrow to see whats happening.
It is scary having a thyroid issue and being 20.:(

I know how you must feel, being so young. I was diagnosed with a goitre at the age of 13. When I was 23 years old I had it removed. The guy said it was the biggest goitre he had ever seen in someone so young.
Since having kids, it's been a bit of trial and error to get my levels right - so I can take the meds correctly but I've had to deal with regular blood tests etc.
I trust that your appointment tomorrow will give you the answers you need. If you aren't satisfied, hopefully your GP will refer you to a specialist.
Take care :hugs:

If you are worried, go and see your GP. If your GP is not giving you answers that you are comfortable with go get a second opinion. I was going through a public hospital for scans etc, but ended up seeing a private endocrinologist which is the best thing I have done for myself. She didn't push me out the door and answered all of my questions.
Good luck hun.
