My DD will be 6 months in 5 days, we've run out of the from birth formula but we've got a tin of the from 6 months on hand. Is it ok to just start using that one now?

Yeah
It'll be fine. The only difference between the two (that I'm aware of, feel free to correct me, as I am a breast feeder myself, but this is just what I hear) is infant formular has more stuff in it, because its their sole source of nutrician, whereas with 6 month + they have solids to supplement their diets.
I also suspect it would have a higher iron content, because 6month + require more iron than newborns. Which is why all baby cereals have added iron.
Whats 5 days for a baby anyway?
yep thats fine. Actually you dont need to move onto the "follow on" formulas, theyre just a marketing ploy.

Yep that would be fine, that's what I did with DS.
When you think about it, babies don't have a body clock saying 'i'm exactly 6 months now I can have the 6month formula'

You can but i wouldnt. Second & third stage formula's dont have as much iron as 1st stage does.

That's not actually true. I don't know anything about Stage 3, but Stage 2 formula has more iron, as it's roughly 6 months when bubs iron stores start to deplete so they need to be getting more iron in their diet.
That is why, if you have a baby who is prone to constipation it is best to avoid stage 2 formula all together, because iron can cause constipation.
That being said, I don't see it would be a problem.

Karricare has more iron in stage2 formula, and a different combination of protein that takes longer to digest. My bub is 7 months and still on stage1 as the iron adnd extra protein gives him an upset tummy.

By all means yes. If you have nothing else to give her then there is no reason why you cant.

Yes, if you had of given birth 6 days earlier you wouldn't even question it.
