View Full Version : Bung eye
3 week old DD woke up last night with a weepy right eye. Today is has got worse and I'm constantly wiping it (inside of the eye out) with a cotton ball. Should I be doing anything different and how long until it heals, is it something the doc needs to see?
I'm thinking maybe a blocked tear duct or conjunctervitis?

My DD had blocked tear ducts at that age also... the Dr told me it was normal and common in newborns.
Keep cleaning it with a damp cotton ball and also if you gently massage the corner of bubs eye it will help unblock the tear duct. The Dr told me to do this a couple of times a day until it was better.
:fingerscrossed:
It sounds like conjunctivitis and therefore I would go and see a doctor. Hope she gets better soon

DD has had conjuncivitis a few times now. I would strongly recommend you wipe it every few hours with saline.
Just dissolve about a tspn or so of salt in about 1/4 cup of cool boiled water in a sterile container. Wipe each eye from inside corner out with a fresh cotton ball dipped in saline.
This helped my DD every time.

DS had this in the first 2 weeks of his life, on and off. The magic potion is BREASTMILK. Just squirt her in the eye with it :D let the milk pool around the tear duct area where the gunk is, and just leave it. Do it just before she has a sleep, let her sleep with it on the gunk, and when she wakes up the gunk will be gone.
Breastmilk has amazing qualities!!
