My little niece has bad nappy rash and her doctor has suggested my sil try cloth nappies. She urgently wants to buy some - try anything to get rid of this nappy rash - but she just doesn't know where to start.

Can anyone recommend which are most breathable?

My nice is 10 months old!!

Thanks.

I could be wrong as I'm still reasonably new to mcn's but I'd suggest a fitted with no cover would be the most breathable - but would need to be changed freuntly as it wouldn't be water proof. Otherwise a fitted with a wool cover :)
Hope that helps

I think that babybeehinds would be the most popular, and probably the hemp ones rather than bamboo.
Bamboo is more absorbant, but i think hemp would breath better. You'd have to be very vigilant with changes, if using without a cover. I think PUL is supposed to be somewhat breathable, well moreso than the old plastic pilchers!

There is a brand called hautes that do a pocket nappy that is 'breathable' but im not sure how breathable it actually is... i havent noticed any difference TBH!

I was also going to suggest baby beehind fitteds without a cover.

someone also suggested some time ago.... bicarb?? was it... in the bath water, apparently works at healing the nappy rash also. correct me if im wrong with this one..:o I havent used it myself.

My 10 month old has nasty nappy rash - I think it's the friction from crawling. She's in cloth. I use BBH at night and haven't noticed any difference with a wool or PUL cover. Corn flour seem to be the best option, as you can't use creams with cloth unless you use liners.
