8 weeks to go until #1 arrives!

I'm thinking of buying some bamboo terry to make flats or prefolds. What size flats work best for a newborn? I don't want to end up with something too small. Is 50 x 50 cm big enough? (after shrinking)

Also confused about sizes of prefolds. There seems to be such a huge range, I've seen everything from 37 x 40 cm to 28 x 29 cm, all being advertised as newborn size! How confusing . Don't want to go to the trouble of making prefolds only to find they're too small.

I'm thinking maybe flats are a better bet, at least they're a bit more adjustable than prefolds. Hmmmm.

How exciting! I can remember how excited I felt. Being a Mum is the most wonderful experience. My #1 is 16 weeks on Sunday. Treasure each day because they fly by so quickly.
Essentially prefolds are flats with a built in booster. I think you could get away with flats. I found that I was always changing nappies early on anyway (way more than I probably needed to). You could always make up some boosters to boost your flats. That way you can use them later on inside MCN's as well. I found my little boy grew out of the newborn prefolds so quickly. If we use them now I have to fold them into a rectangle and just sit them inside his cover. I bought the size 1 boori bamboo prefolds.
