Hi. I live in Yarraville (between Seddon and Spotswood) and I walk my 11 month old around everyday in the streets. People are really friendly here! So don't worry too much about the area :)

I lived in maribyrnong, thats kind of inner West but not really near Yarraville. It was fine, just wasn't on the train line, but did have trams. Ascot Vale station wasn't too far though. I have friends in Yarraville or Spotswood or Seddon, one of those suburbs, as lovely as the husband is, he is anal about things and would've done hours of research before buying there so it must be a good safe area! I knew another guy who lived in Newport, he was similar, wouldn't live anywhere crusty.
I'd live there.
Hi,
I live in Footscray and love it! It has always had a bit of a bad reputation as a drug-haven but honestly we have lived here for 7 years and had no problems whatsoever and I am always wandering the streets with my 3 boys. I think the inner west is great. Close to cheap markets (Footscray or Victoria), interesting and fantastic places to eat (not that we go out much since having kids:laughing:), good parks and places to take the kids, close to the city and lots of public transport. I have friends in both Altona and Newport and they love it. Go for it.
