Just wanted to warn u guys.

I had 2 quotes telling me I was eligable for the government $1600 insulation grant.

I rang to get another quote today to be told houses built after 2003 are not eligable and if I get it done I will be commiting FRAUD. As u sign a paper saying ur house comply's.

Apparantley there has been alot of dodgy companies doing this some have been proscecuted and kicked out of the program.

The homeowners are being done for fraud aswell as having to pay the money back.

Be warned
Be imformed.

Cheers
Bex

I replied to your other thread but you have been given false information & will post here what I said in the other ...

Thats actually incorrect

Your house doesnt need to be new at all ...

Here are the guidelines :

Who is eligible?

* Homeowners
* Landlords/tenants
* Early installers

Homeowners who are eligible

To qualify for free roof insulation you must:

* Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over
* Be an individual (not, for example, be a company or other organisation)
* Be the Owner-Occupier or Beneficial Owner (an individual who is the beneficiary of a trust that owns a dwelling) of the dwelling where the ceiling insulation is to be installed
* Occupy the dwelling as your principal place of residence
* Have permission from other owner/s to install the insulation (if the dwelling has more than one owner) and obtain the approval of the body corporate (if applicable)
* Not have been granted assistance under the Australian Government’s solar hot water rebate program since the rebate was increased to $1,600 on 3 February 2009
* Correctly complete and sign the relevant section of the Work Order Form (provided by the Installer)
* Only apply for assistance under the program once per dwelling (you cannot apply for assistance under the Low Emission Assistance Plan For Renters as well)
* Be installing new ceiling insulation – it does not cover the replacement of existing ceiling insulation unless it has negligible effectiveness (that is, at or below 0.5 R-Value). Your installer will need to indicate if existing insulation is 0.5 or less in the Work Order Form.
* Not have received or be entitled to receive assistance for the installation of ceiling insulation in the dwelling under any state, territory or local government scheme which combined with any assistance under this program will result in the Householder receiving assistance in excess of the total cost of the installation of the ceiling insulation.

You can read more about eligibility requirements and the government funding here.
Landlords/tenants who are eligible

To qualify for free roof insulation, you must be a:

1. Landlord of the dwelling where the insulation is to be installed and be:
– an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over
– a corporate entity incorporated in Australia
2. Tenant of a dwelling owned by a Landlord with a letter stating the Landlord’s permission to install ceiling insulation in that dwelling under the Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters. You must sign the Work Order Form (provided by the installer) the Landlord’s behalf.

You must also:

* Obtain the approval of the body corporate, if applicable
* Correctly complete and sign the relevant section of the Work Order Form
* Only apply for assistance under the program once per dwelling and not apply for assistance under the Homeowner Insulation Program as well
* Be installing new ceiling insulation – it does not cover the replacement of existing ceiling insulation unless it has negligible effectiveness (that is, at or below 0.5 R-Value). Your installer will need to indicate if existing insulation is 0.5 or less in the Work Order Form.
* Not have received or be entitled to receive assistance for the installation of ceiling insulation in the dwelling under any state, territory or local government scheme which combined with any assistance under this program will result in the Landlord or Tenant receiving assistance in excess of the total cost of the installation of the ceiling insulation.

This scheme does not cover state or territory public housing.

More information about eligibility for landlords/renters and the scheme in general is available here.
Guidelines for insulation installed prior to 1 July 2009

Householders who installed insulation in the early installation phase (after 3 February 2009 but before 1 July 2009) can apply for assistance via the rebate application process outlined in the Early Installation Guidelines, for up to six months after the date of installation. Early installers required the labour and insulation to be initially paid for by the building's owner and later reimbursed by the Government.
