G'day Dads,

A question for you,
What year are we living in ?

You see i took my little girl to meet her family Doc last Thursday for her 2 month old vaccinations.Im a new Dad so i didnt know what to expect.A needle for sure,i was ready for that.

But THREE(3) needles later and a very distraught little girl and even more distraught big girl (Dad) left the Doc's surgery in tears.:crying:
I dont know who was hurting more, even the Doc wasnt keen on having to give the needles.
Im fully aware of the importance of these vacinations and the illnesses and diseases we have to share this beautiful earth with, what i have a problem with is the way these vaccinations are administered.
Surely this day and age we must have a better way to administer these vaccinations to newborns, infants, toddlers and children in general.
There must be a better way,a more gentle way,a more humane way.
Giving a 8 week old newborn three painful needles into her soft defenceless body in one sitting just doesn't seem right to me.

So i ask...what year are we living in ???
Just because its been done this way for so long, doesnt make it right.
I just had to put this out there into the forum, thanks for listening.

Steve.

I think they are combining more and more into each vaccine all the time. At least they don't have to have the 3 needles and the polio liquid as well. I just had my DD's 2 month ones done also and it wasn't nice for anyone involved. I really feel for them too, but I think they are combining as much as they can, some of them include vaccines for four diseases in the one needle.

They do have the technology to combine all 3 into 1 but you pay for it as it's not covered by medicare and I believe it's exy. I share your feelings though, I cryed at my son's first needle and never been back since. Mummy takes him alone now, she finds it so cute though that's I'm so concerned about my lil man getting hurt.

I would much rather my child go through one session of pain than 3 separate ones. I do understand where you are coming from though, it is very traumatic to watch them go through that. But they are generally fine and back to their old happy selves after 5mins. And they don't remember it which is even better. I hope it is less traumatic for the next ones, good luck.

Hi Steve

First of all, I really feel for you. Seeing our little tiny babies in pain and not being able to do anything about it is really hard. :(

I'm probably going to throw a spanner in the works here but I just wanted to say my husband and I decided NOT to take our baby girl for her 8 week shots. We also chose for her not to have Hep B at birth. It's not all about the pain of the needles though, it's also about what's in the needles that concerns us (eg. mercury, formaldehyde, chicken embryos...) so if our daughter is vaccinated at all, it will not be until she is older and her little body is better able to process the toxins that are in the injection.

Did you know that you can choose to delay vaccination? There is a school of thought that when they are bigger and more active, they are better able to process the toxins through their system, as opposed to when they are so tiny and immobile. Just something for you to consider.

In regards to the whole vaccination issue - the following link makes interesting reading, if you have the time or inclination.

As someone said in a similar thread, I would rather a small amount of crying than have my children die or be left disabled from one of these diseases. Most of these diseases are rare to catch because so many people used to vax.
To us its just not worth the risk not to vax.
I hope you find it easier as you go along.

When I saw my dad suffering with whooping cough last year (he had it for about 8mths!!), I knew I had made the right decision to vaccinate my kids. Just as I knew I'd made right decision when I saw a lot of kids struck down with measles. It's just not right to put your childs life at risk like that.
