I obtained all of mine by contacting the hospital I gave birth in. It took a while (a month) and that was when I asked for the info only 2 weeks after I delivered . Also, they may ask for payment, depending on how much you want, as they have to photocopy everything and it can be time consuming for them.

Did you get everything including your antinatal records or was it just birth records?

I got the full file. Pre-natal, birth and antenatal records and it was huge. I required it because I was considering legal action (long story, which I will tell you when I see you next, if you like!) and so I asked for every single thing they had. (This was in Adelaide by the way, but I can't imagine you not being able to get everything here.) Make sure you ask for the whole file.

I went to the hospital and asked for them. They usually charge you a fee for photocopying. They gave me all my records. It cost me about $27 and they posted it out to me. It took about 1 month to receive them

I believe you get what you request. You are entitled by law to be able to view your records. However they are entitled to ask you for a fee.

Hope you get the answers you are seeking.

Might give them a call tomorrow as i have not had any luck with my complaint. Would like it for my GP too as i think she thinks i am telling tall tales .

If you think the hospital will stuff you around, you could always get your GP to make the request on your behalf and they will probably get onto it without stuffing around, but sounds like your GP might be a pain in the butt!

My GP is lovley, but i just have trouble remembering what happened and in what order so she get a bit confused. She has requested my file, but they only sent her what i had which was my birth records. I also had a cyst removed and wanted the details of that too as i was out for the count when they removed it and would like to know what type of cyst, size etc. I only have one ovary and would like to keep it in working order.

Maybe you should write out for your GP exactly what you want to receive, so they will send you all the right stuff. If you state you want birth records, antenatal records and records pertaining to your cyst removal, that will make it really clear and they should give you everything in relation to those areas.
