I see people talking about it and I'm not sure what it is? Is it a fertility drug?

It is a fertility drug which is used to assist ladies to ovulate. I take it cos I have PCOS and don't always ovulate on my own.

Ahhh ok, so did you start taking it after having tests done at the dr to confirm you dont ovulate? Or did you just know? :o

I take clomid, even though I have near perfect cycles/ovulation and no issues found. My FS is hoping that it will just help promote a nice bigger/riper/healthier egg. It did work for us on 4th cycle but unfort ended in a mc, back on it again for the 5th cycle and hoping it does the trick again soon.
So yeah, its generally for women who need help with ovulating, or it can also be used in my case to promote 'healthier' ovulation.

Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. I was diagnosed by internal ultrasound after seeing a Fertility Specialist. I have had trouble with my cycles (such as mid cycle bleeding etc) since going off the pill and TTC. 1st round of Clomid didn't result in a pregnancy hopefully the 2nd round will (on CD12 now just waiting to ovulate:fingerscrossed:)
Hope that info helps a bit

Oh ok, interesting. So anyone can go on it then?

Oh ok! I have had some mid cycle bleeds and dr put me on an antibiotic to try and take away a "cronic infection" of the cervix, still had a tiny spotting before my period by only a day or 2 before so figured that was normal enough?
Great thanks for the info, helps a lot.

Generally only a FS or a Gyno can prescribe it for you, and they normally like to see some charting history or atleast some progesterone Day 21 BT's done to see what your levels are like.

Ahhh ok thanks everyone for your replies :)
Ali, like Crafty said, it's something a FS or gyno prescribed because it's not for everyone. It's not a magic pill that will instantly improve your chances of conception.
It works wonderfully for women who have trouble ovulating, or if their ovaries need a boost, but for women like me, it simply dried up my tubes and made it harder for the little sperm to swim up to the egg.
Make google your friend before leaping headfirst into a drug that may, or may not, work for you.
Good luck!
