I am booked in to go to Sunshine Hospital for an overnight stay as i need help in settling my twins during the night. They are 8 months old and they still wake up for feeds even though they have had 3 solid meals plus their formulas.

Has anyone gone there and if so, what was your experience like?

I haven't actually gone there but have used the services of the midwife who operates out of the hospital. I'm not 100% sure what the link between her and the hospital is but basicallly she comes to your home for a visit and if you still have problems you can then go to the hospital for an overnight stay. We were booked in a while back but Lucy settled down. The midwife was excellent so if she's a reflection on the hospital you should (hopefully) find it helpful.

Good luck

I should add that I used the DVD mentioned above first and then got the midwife (Rhonda) from it to our house. She was great.

I have a 16 month old who is only really settling down to sleep better now. He has slept with us a lot throughout his life because he has always been very wakeful. We tried other methods including variations on control crying but nothing ever worked (and yes, we did stay consistent). He preferred to be held. He now settles in his cot most nights. We took the lead from him in the end.

I hope the sleep school can help. I know people who have been helped and people who haven't. Contrary to what the experts will tell you control crying methods don't always work and with many babies they make things much worse, even when you give it plenty of time to work.

Sometimes it just takes time for them to grow up. I spent so much of the first year wondering why my son wouldn't sleep and why I couldn't change it (not to mention answering everyone else's questions on why he didn't sleep through!). The one thing I have learnt is that sometimes they are who they are and they are babies, with baby sleep patterns, for much longer than you think!
