Hey all

Just wondering, Cam is allergic to Milk and eggs, when he reacts he gets covered in hives, excema and is anaphylactic. I have avoided dairy and egg in my diet for a while because it was even causing him to react through my breastmilk.

Lately i have been introducing dairy and egg into my diet and he hasn't had any excema reactions however i am starting to wonder if there's a connection from me introducing these things back into my diet and whether that could be causing his breathing problems. He only just got over bronchiolitis the other week, now he is wheezing and coughing etc and is generally pretty miserable, runny nose too and coughing in his sleep. I'm worried that these are new symptoms but all connected to his allergy and from me introducing these things again.

Just wanted to see if anyone else with allergy kids has seen the reaction or symptom change? I'm definately not going to eat egg or cheese for a while to see if it improves for him, poor thing I feel dreadful but i thought he was getting better as he didn't seem to display his previous symptoms so i figured he was growing out of his allergies, but now i'm concerned it's developed into the breathing problems he seems to have.

Also anyone know when and how they test kids for asthma? I really think he could be asthmatic...

Just went to the doc and got something that has prednisolone (sp) in it for him. Hopefully he'll be better tonight and if not back to the doc tomorrow.

So sad, he sounds like a heavy smoker the amount of wheezing and coughing he's been doing lately :(

Really worried he may have asthma

im in the same boat as you withmy dd atm she is allergic to milk, soy and wheat it gives her eczema and bad tummy pains with diorreh sp? also a runny blocked nose. she is now starting to grow out of her eczema and get breathing difficulties instead if she has any of the foods she is allergic to. we have had her in hospital quite a few times with asthema as she was realy strugling to breath.

i have been told by a few peads the is a huge link between eczema and asthema.

hope your bub is better soon

Thanks so much for sharing your situation has me wondering thats for sure. Am definately going to cut egg and dairy out of my diet as i have been very relaxed lately about it due to his excema not flaring up. So yeah i am definately thinking the breathing issues could be due to that. Certainly won't hurt to test the theory and cut it out of my diet again. Has she been diagnosed as asthmatic? Cammy definately had a wheezy breathing and rattly cough. Sounded horrid the poor man.

Yes she has but isnt on anything for it as ventolin doesnt work for her yet, they said she is still too small for it yet to have any decent affect we have tried it several times in hospital.
our next step is a nebulizer which we are getting tuesday fingers crossed it works.
