Hey Everyone
I'm hoping to get your opinions!
My little girl is bottle fed and has been a great eater up until the last two-three weeks.
She use to drink most of her 180ml feed but now she will barely drink 80-100ml per feed. Instead she just plays with the bottle teat in her mouth and moves it around with her tongue and fights me when I try to get her to sucking.
She has however started sucking on her hands a lot but it doesn't seem to be a sign of hunger more like a new discovery.
She is a very happy baby otherwise, sleeping through the night & playing during the day and doesn't seem to be hungry.
Do you think this is just a phase?
is she getting ready for solids?
I look forward to your thoughts :)

It could be that she's ready to drop a feed, one less bottle per day. Or it could be part of teething, or just that her awareness of her surroundings has increased so much that she's very easily distracted.
Going off her bottle is not a sign that she needs solids. When she needs solids she will be finishing her bottles and looking for more!
If you want to reassure yourself, a guide for how much formula bubs should be taking in a day is 150 to 170ml of formula for each kg of weight. (so kg x 150 = ml per day formula). It will of course go up and down daily or weekly as they go through growth spurts. The best guide is that she's happy, healthy, growing and having enough wet nappies each day.
I am having the exact same problem with my 14 week old girl. What happened with your bub how did you get through it.

I'm having the same problem with my 14 week old boy! Well at least we're not alone!
I'm wondering if I should switch to a faster flow teat.
Does anyone know?

my 5mo is also doing the same. at this wt, he should be having 230 mls every feed, but usually he takes only 150 mls. enough wet nappies, but his wees are darker compare to when he was BF. used to very crystal clear but now yellowish...is that normal??
i thought he may be ready to drop a feed. how do you do that?

It's been way too long since my DD was this age, so hopefully someone else will pop in with some more advice!
Maplewattle - you could try a faster flow teat if it seems that he's either getting bored or tired before feeling full. But I would think that if he's not getting enough he'd be letting you know by being hungry sooner or generally unsettled.
Trellios - I can't remember how I dropped a feed! I tended to demand feed rather than by the clock, so I think it just happened naturally to suit how her nap and feed times changed as she grew.
Remember though that how much they drink is only a guide. Every bub is different and every bub changes week to week as they grow in spurts. If you were breastfeeding you'd have no idea how much they were drinking and would only be concerned if they seemed unsettled, excessively hungry, not growing or weren't having enough wet nappies. So if they're happy, growing and healthy then try not to get stressed on how much they drink.
