Just letting everyone know there is a new group starting up in Willetton called "Lerby Derby". It is for parents/carers and kids to interact with each other whilst singing, dancing, wriggling, stamping, clapping etc. to fun music and nursery rhymes.
It's very casual and only $5 (aunts, uncles, granparents can watch for free). Morning tea is provided at the end of each session and the first session is free.
Sessions run on Tues and Thurs at 10am (starting on Tues Sept 1st 09). Sessions are held inside the Betty Bentley Dance Academy, cnr High Rd and Lch Hwy Willetton (rear of Bunnings - enter from Augusta St)

Is interested. Can you answer a few Q for me?
What morning tea is served?
I have attended some of these activities before and found them quiet "structured" what happens if a child dosnt want to do a particular activity?

Hi Renenet,
Re: morning tea - very simple - dried and fresh fruit (just a little something healthy for the kids to nibble on really).
Re: session structure - The sessions are very casual. Some kids run around, some get quite focused and participate closely. Sessions are purely for fun and are not meant for disciplining or trying to get kids to do things they don't want to do. The main purpose is to give mums/carers a chance to get out and about with other parents in a fun environment and engage together with their kids.

Hi Mamabear -
You can come along to Lerby Derby on a casual basis. The first session is free and then you just pay as you go. Starts Tues 1st Sept.
The sessions are active for 30minutes (about as long as the children like to stay focused) followed by a bit of socialising for another 1/2 hour.
This allows the mums/dads etc to chat while the kids have free time to play and snack on some fruit. So it starts at 10am and you can go any time from 10.30 to 11am.
Hope to see you there.
Im interested as well. I have a 13 month old who loves dancing and clapping and starts bopping the minute she hears music. What ages are your kids mamabear and renaenet??

Hi Bonbon,
Lerby Derby sessions are best suited to children aged 1 to 4 or 5 years old. Some parents bring their smaller babies who can't yet walk and hold them or dance with them while their older siblings dance along.
Your 13mth old should be fine. Come along to the first session being held in Willetton because its free and see how she goes.
Cheers!
