View Full Version : Squealing
My son is almost 6 months old and has been non-stop squealing for the last 2 weeks. How long does this phase will continue? Does anyone have any tips to stop it/reduce it?
Hey :)
My 5 month old has learnt how to squeal this past week - its a happy squeal and its just gorgeous to listen to. I love it. Its wonderful to hear him able to express himself and for me, its just an extension of smiles and laughter. THe silliest things make him squeal!
Is your son happy squealing or grumpy? I guess I would feel differently if Andrew was narky but he seems to enjoy practising his vocals and projecting his voice and I'm not keen to discourage it. Just one more step on the road to be able to talk I think.
I have read heaps and heaps and haven't heard of any ways to stop it or reduce it -maybe others on this forum have some tips? Would be interested to hear other peoples experiences with this...

My daughter has been a happy squealer for months now!! It doesnt bother me if its a happy squeal. But as Nicole said it depends if its a happy squeal or not.
Ive read also that it can all be part of their developement, so I dont discourage Brianna either.
It is a happy squeal so I know I should just love it ...
My son is nearly 3 and is still squealing at times. My 17 months old girl doesn't squeal quite as much.
I soetimes wish I could lower down a cone of silence like they used to have on Get Smart!

My friends son who is 2 1/2 years old still squeals now. My daughter who is also 2 1/2 squeals but you dont notice it that much when its a girl. When all the kids get together and start playing, the squealing just gets louder and louder because all the kids copy each other.

my son also started at about 6 months. At first i thought it was cute - that didn't last long. It drove me absolutley crazy. I found everytime he did it he got some sort of reaction - either someone laughing at him or telling him to stop it so i started ignoring him. Every time he did it i would turn my back to him then calmly tell him to talk not squeal. He contiued for about a week and i haven't heard it since then (except when he is really excited).
Eloise did this for a while as well. I learned just to ignore it....or maybe I burst both my eardrums.... not sure. Anyway, it's just a phase.
