What do I do?

Skye sleeps in the portacot at the moment and she can climb out and tonight she just keeps getting out, turning the light on and playing. Its just after 9pm and shes been in her room (supposed to be asleep) since 7pm. Today she slept in Hayley's bed for a nap and she was fine (Grant put her in the portacot at first but she just got up and played, she actually came out of her room). We are gonna be getting her a bed soon but I imagine she will just do the same thing anyway.

Grant said we should take the globe out of the light so that way she can't play (or she can't see what shes doing) but I don't know. She is just playing in her room not bothering anyone but its late and she needs her sleep.

Any suggestions?

Well on one hand, at least she's in her room and not coming out hassling you. On the other hand, you could try taking stuff out of her room to make it boring? *shrugs*.

DD used to do this, and as long as she didn't stay up too long I'd let her. She only ever did it a few times and got bored playingby herself once the novelty wore off.

I took the bulb out when dd1 moved into a bed, she wouldn't stop playing with it! She had a night light in her room so she could still see anyway, just took away the novelty of switching the light on and off. You've just got to love 2 year old's :D

I reckon if we took the bulb out she'd probably still play in the dark OR she'd come out here in the lounge so she can see. I leave the light on for her for about 5 minutes or so before she goes to sleep, this has only happened tonight so hopefully its a once off but somehow I don't think it is. Shes been staying at her aunty and uncle's a bit lately and she sleeps in her cousins bed (bottom bunk) and apparently she has been fine there (even at nap times). I think it might be she doesn't want to sleep in her portacot anymore.

I would just put her in a bed.

I think she wants to sleep in a bed, can you take one side off, so it looks like a bed?

see how that goes?
