My cycle has been short and irregular since stopping the pill in Jan 2009 to conceive- anywhere from 21 days to 28 days and always with spotting from about 5 days before. This month no spotting at all, and no period and today is CD28. I did two pregnancy tests this morning - one clear blue digital negative and the other pregnosis also negative. This has never happened to me at all - my period always comes early! any clues - I am going NUTS.

My tests showed negative until i was 8 weeks.

I insisted the doctor do a blood test, and behold. I was gobsmacked.

I also bleed but no pain. It was weird and i had just come off the pill.

thanks for getting back to me - 8 weeks - if it takes me that long I will have gone completely mad.

My obsessive nature does not make me ideally suited to this baby making adventure - I am checking every hour or so to see if any progress and madly thinking when I can take a pregnancy test - then worrying that something is wrong with me and if I tell my husband he will tell me to settle down and be patient!

I hope this is all normal human behaviour in the circumstances!

I guess if this keeps up I should go to the doctor next week and see what's going on?

Hi I know waiting can be frustrating but I was 5 weeks before I got a positive test with both my babies. Give it a couple of days and then test again. Otherwise you can go to the doctor and request a blood test, although I always found they wouldn't do one without a positive HPT first! All the best and keep us posted

Thankyou so much - I can't begin to tell you how nice it is to get some responses. I am still going quietly made waiting waiting waiting!

My worst worry is that my period has just disappeared but I am not pregnant and it just becomes this big medical mystery as to what has happened to it - add to this the fact I am just about to turn 40 (I found my lovely husband only 2 years ago this week!) and you can see why I am getting stressed. Anyway, back to the waiting. I will do another test on the weekend if still no progress.

Last night I had a bit of spotting so I think that my period is on its way. This is not to be our month! And the husband is out of action for a month or so....this baby making business is hard, especially when you are old like me - 40 this week!

Try not to get down about it, i know its so hard. Ive been ttc for 10 years and am worried that i am getting old too. Its such a rollercoaster but we have no choice but to go with it.

Goodluck hon I really hope you get a BFP soon.

Don't lose hope. I had my son at 42.

Your cycles sound fairly similar to mine - I think it's part of getting older. I used to find that I would conceive on the shorter cycles & not the longer ones. What I mean by that is I'd get pregnant when I O'd earlier in the cycle So the shorter cycles could eventually work in your favour as they will give you more chances of getting pregnant over the year.

:fingerscrossed: you get some happy news soon.
