(I love seeing my name as a thread title :D )
Well, we've had 2 "disposable days" but apart from that he's been cloth-bummed since the meconium stopped. I put a BB Bamboo on him when he was 1 day old, and got meconium all over it. I cried, literally, I sobbed. My poor beautiful Bamboo!!
OK best out of my stash: I am realising why all youse love pockets so much! I have a couple of Nappies Covered pockets, and they are BRILLIANT, plus one home made pocket ....... (thought I'd let that statement hang in the air for a minute before I reveal that in fact it was not home made by me.... got it off ebay for a few bucks, it's a fleece pocket)
So I like the pockets, stuffed with hemp boosters, I have a few homemade hemp boosters (again, not made by me) and a few Cherubs Kiss hemp boosters which are really great.
Speaking of Cherubs Kiss, I have 1 Honeyboy. I want about a trillion more. The one I have is a "small" and it is already too small for him, so soon I will be getting a few more but in a bigger size. I like the way these fit, and that they are fleece AIO's.
LOVING the Baby Beehinds, I have 1 bamboo (2 more on the way, whenever the new stock gets in, late July last I heard) and 1 hemp. They are great. I can do them up really small so they fitted him right from a week old.
I have 6 Tots Bots, 2 of them Bamboozles. I like these, but they do get soaked through just like the old terry flats (which is probably because that's what they're made of.... clever queenie :p ) so I only use them at home so I can change him as soon as he wets (he HATES being in a wet nappy, fair enough too)
I'm using Bamboo for night times, either the Bamboozles or the BB, plus I have a Bubba J bamboo too. With one hemp booster in there, it does last all night (unless he poo's) and he doesn't seem to feel that he is wet (like I said, he lets me know as soon as he feels wet).
I have a few Beaut Bots (WAHM from ebay) and these are gorgeous, and they do the job well. I also have a couple of Nic Naps (WAHM from ebay also) and I like these very much - very thick, very absorbant. One is an AIO and one isn't, but the plain fitted one doesn't even need a cover, that's how thick it is. They do take ages to dry, but I don't mind that. That shows how absorbant they are, IMO!
I also have a Beastly Bumz fitted, a small size, which is already too small for him. I haven't had him weighed for a few weeks, he'd probably be around the 5.5kgs mark now, or thereabouts. I wish I'd bought the next size up Beastly Bumz, I like it because it's leopard print LOL he looks like tarzan in it!! These fit a newborn bum well, the small size.
I was scoffed at by some family members, that I wouldn't be able to stick with the cloth. It is not much work at all, I'm finding, a quick squirt to get the poo off, then chuck it in the PUL bag. Then when that's full, into the machine. I've been using the dryer lately, because it's cold here and my washing line is under the verandah. But I also use the clothes airer and put that outside in the sun.
I am having all (and I mean ALL) my family here on the weekend for the Christening, and I am going to be SO smug (oh gee, that's awfully Christian of me isn't it  ) about the fact that I am "still" using cloth. :D
My little sis is pregnant so I'm going to try to convert her LOL.
Oh I also have just bought a pair of longies (I love waiting for fluffy mail!) and I had a soaker and a pair of longies custom knitted for me in bigger sizes (Possum Pouches - very reasonable prices and fantastic quality) So I'm looking forward to putting those on him.
And here endeth the cloth nappy sermon. I'm such a clothie, I could literally talk for hours about nappies. My best friend tolerates it, and makes the appropriate polite comments, but I can tell she thinks I'm reeeeeeally strange LOL

We have a saying in our house "Don't Poo in the Bamboo".
I love fluffy mail.

Haven't used them yet D, he's still a bit little for them, but I love having "the next size up" pile in the wardrobe :D
I actually also have a Cheekybutts "Ford Racing" nappy which he'll be wearing underneath his Christening gown on Sunday. The gown has some pink in it, so we need to make sure he doesn't look "too girly" So we're putting his tiny blundstones on his feet, and a Ford nappy on his butt.
LOL Sop, a couple of times I've put on the small Beastly Bumz nappy and thought "hmmm I could put the BB Bamboo on over the top, and that way it won't get dirty!" how crazy am I....
Oh, and did I tell you guys? I had some WAHM newborn nappies, no brand name, just homemade by someone. They were quite tiny. After a few weeks he outgrew them, and my first thought was "wow, I better have another baby so I can keep using these nappies" See, I'm completely nuts!
queen, was any of that post in english? I didn't understand any of it. Its like computer language but for cloth-nappy people.
I would like to have a couple of cloth nappies, purely for showing off purposes, but I don't know where to start. I don't want to do my own research (surprisingly for a geek like me). I just want someone to tell me what to buy and where to buy it from and how much it will cost.
I want a nappy that you just change the inside bit. Is that what a pocket nappy is?
What does PUL stand for?

Oh Queenie !
Thats awesome i was wondering how they were all going especially the Beaut Bots as i want some as i love the look of them but thought eeerrrrr maybe they wont work hehehe so i was glad to hear you had bought them hehehe.
Will definately have to revise my plan of what i want & need !
Shed - I would advise for getting some terry flats ( just get them cheap off ebay ) then invest in some Green Kids Anytimes & some hemp inserts they are sooooo easy to use.
You will need to use the terry flats & then the Greens nappy over the top for the first few weeks at least depending on size of bubs & then you can use them properly once bubs is big enough. They are the pocket style with the PUL ( Poly Urethane Laminate best explanation is a breathable PVC much better for bubs ) on the outside & a suede cloth inner which keeps bubs dry. They are one size so will do from newborn through to toilet training on most kids !
Check out Green Kids to have a look !
Oh Queenie! Sounds like you are a complete convert and have fully succumbed to the addiction LOL.

I truly feel for you but our DH must have thought you'd gone mad.
And it's dissappointing to hear about the Tots Bots Bamboozles not being absorbant enough. I've got a few for when #2 arrives but they don't sound like they would hold up to a super wee-er.
I hear you on the HoneyBoy's! I'm stalking Cherub's Kiss and Ozebaby for any that may pop up but unfortunately haven't been fast enough yet.
Oh yes, and congratulations on not just all your fluffy mail but your new bub too!

Thanks Lucy - in my haste I may have misled you though, the Bamboozles are great - the regular TB's are good too, but they soak through and he doesn't like the feeling of being wet. I use the Bamboozles at night time and they last all night.
Oh and I got fluffy mail today !! :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
My new BB Bamboo's arrived from Darlings Downunder!!!!! I thought they weren't available till end of July but I was obviously wrong YAY!!!!!

Thats hilarious !!!!!
DP is like that now if we get asked about them he often ends up taking over in telling everyone how great they are etc
I just got two more Eenies off ebay in the mail today so i got part fluffy mail :p
But was rather annoyed when i went to one of our local Targets that used to sell the inserts ( as i want them for my sister & mum ) as they were a Baby Target anyways they dont sell them anymore i was so annoyed :(
But hey they means more online shopping for me so hahahah DP is now really worried !!!!
Plus his mum is bringing over 20 of her old terry flats for me tomorrow so im so excited.
Im so sad these days when i get over excited about nappies hehehehe.
And my DH, well he sometimes thinks I'm crazy - but when we took Curtis into his work to show him off for the first time, DH started telling all the other mechanics about the benefits of cloth nappies!!! LOL THEY looked at HIM like HE was crazy
That is funny!
DH is the same :yelclap: After being unsure about cloth (thanks to all those well meaning family and friends who didn't have a clue about modern cloth), he now raves about cloth to anyone who's expecting or has children. He comes home very dissappointed when he doesn't convince them LOL
Oh, and good to hear about the Bamboozles being good - had me a bit worried :) Have you tried using a large piece of fleece as a liner so that his skin isn't touching any of the wet fabric? The risk is that explosive poos may leak out but I'm sure you can work out a balance.
My Dh doesn't even seem to notice or comment on the cloth nappys, he thinks its another phase i am spending money on. I have no-one to get excited about fluffy mail, ppl without kids just dont understand!
queenie- your dh sure has provided some laughs.
