snaps vs velcro

whats the general consensus? Which do most people seem to prefer? Of the nappies I have bought so far I have only chosen ones with snaps but Im not sure whether I should try a couple with velcro too just to see what I prefer? What do others think?

Man there is so much to think about with this cloth nappy business :laughing: I dont know WHAT i've gotten myself into! Its definitely addictive though!

I was alll velcro all the way - they fitted DD heaps better & easier for DH to use , that was till DD hit 6mths and I found the velcro was starting to come apart when DD was crawling around - and then little finger started pulling at them. I didnt want to go to snaps, in fact I hated the idea of it, but now I couldnt go any other way. DD cant (as yet) get the snaps off. I've found different brand have the snaps in different places, so I have to watch which brands I get. The stretchier material seems to work better so I can get the snaps onto the right size for DD.

I also found the velcro does wear abit, so if you go velcro, make sure its a good quality.

Anyways, after my experiences I'd only consider snaps now.

I have a couple of velcro ones for my 14mth old DS. My DP prefers these as he finds them easier to use. I prefer snaps though.

But for my 2 mth old, I much prefer his velcro ones at the moment. I find they fit better, as you can do them up exactly where you need to.

When DS was under 3mths i prefered the velcro.. then as he got older and started sitting i found that the velcro tended to dig into his belly.. regardless of the brand.. and by the time he was 5mths he could undo them!! HEHE.. cheeky monkey

I now prefer my snaps.. no matter how much he plays with them he has yet to undo them! YET!! hehe
