Just wondering what people think of the DVD's 'Dora the Explora'. I saw a brief part of the DVD and noted it is in Spanish and English and looks interesting for bubs. A friend said their bubs can speak quite good Spanish from watching these.

I kind of like it because it repeats numbers etc and the Spanish is an interesting twist but not sure if it is confusing for babies  . Just wondering what DVD's everyone recommends for Bubs if any.

Also would be interested if anyone has this collection that they want to sell please pm me. :)

Yep my DD loves Dora the explorer but because we have foxtel its just on one of these channels and we dont have it on DVD. I dont think the spanish is confusing her because i dont think she understands the majority of it anyways, she just likes the singing in it.

My DD loves Dora. She really interacts with the dvd's and has learnt to count in Spanish to 7. I think Dora is great and constantly entertaining. No matter how many times she watches them she wants more.

My boys love it (they watch it on Foxtel) and I've found that Jesse will point to something and say the word in Spanish after learning it from Dora.
The first couple of times it shocked me and I asked, "What did you say? What does that mean?" to which he would tell me 'that's how you say it in Spanish" - here I was thinking he was gifted, but he told me he learnt it from Dora!!!:p

It is pretty cool  that your bubs can pick up two languages so easily. Are there any other DVD's like this for kids?

I only allow my son to watch a few shows each morning with austar, and dora the explorer is one of them. I think its very educational. My son is half brasilian, his father is in brasil and unable to teach him portugesse, Alot of people have told me of there children succesfully learning another language fluently from watching it on tv show's inc. sbs. Also the best time for a human to learn a 2, 3rd or 4th lanuguage is under the age of 11, you should try to get them to learn as many languages as possible.

Before my sons father was deported, we did alot of research on children learning 2 different languages straight from birth. WE found many people who had successfully learnt languages this way the parents said that there was a small confusion when they were about 1-2yr old, but soon the child easily picked up who they speak which language too. Its part of learning the language i guess.

I think dora the explorer is a very good show i only let my son watch the educational ones as he is only 15mnths old. I also like dora the explorer because there is a boy in it called Diego which said in spanish is said the same as my son's name :D

Nick Jnr (channel 703)

First on at 6:30am then scattered throughout the day.

My DS has stacks of Dora stuff now - he loves it. He is 2 and can speak a bit of spanish now too. Dora is his TV time 6:30-7 and he hates to miss it. It's actually quite informative and interactive for toddlers.:D

My 2yr old and 4yr old cousins do the same. They love Dora and will constantly shock us by saying something in Spanish. The scarier part is that they generally know the meaning of the word too and can use it in context - How clever. It's fantastic that a show can not only keep kids entertained, but teach tham so many skills as well- such as spanish, counting and words!!!!! Hope it's something they wont forget!

My 6mth old even loves to watch it with them. Quite a cute sight seeing them all lying on the loungs watching the t.v

Dora Dora Dora! well this has to be a brilliant show. my girls absolutely love dora the explorer. with dd1 who is 6.5 used to watch it when she was a toddler, we used to tape all the episodes from nick jr. dd2 is 2.5 and admittedly is more of a dora fan, we have lots of dora things, as well as the dvds.

it is a fantastic educational show for children. it also really benefits my girls, as we speak spanish, DH is from argentina, so it helps them also. their lil minds are like sponges, so absorbing of new things. vote 1 for dora lols
