DD is 11 months old now, and I am considering getting her her first DOLL.
I was thinking about maybe a Cabbage Patch doll (something soft)...
I was thinking that it might be okay ot get her the doll now..and when she gets older, she can get the accessories that go with (like a pram and such).
But is she too young? I thought it might assist with role-playing/imagination and maybe in teaching her the body parts. She also doesn't have much contact with other kids, so I thought it might be nice for her to have "someone" to play with (other than me...who is probably a pretty boring playmate).
Never too young for a doll! Andrew has had my very own cabbage doll (shes 22 years old!) since birth, and has a few of his own now.
He is 16 months now, and its very amusing to watch him playing with them. His latest trick is putting a dummy to their mouth and making sucking noises. So cute :)
Cabbage patch dolls are great - Andrew loves to play with the hair (much better than pulling out mummys hair!).
Go for it!...I got my DD a small cheap doll from Big W when she was around that age. It was small enough for her hands and i figured there will be plenty of time to spend up on the more expensive dolls later on, with all the accesories etc.
She loved it, and as she got older she enjoyed wrapping her up and putting her to sleep. We were given a cabbage patch doll, but it was a bit big and heavy for her at that age. But she did love playing with her hair too!!

Yes she will love it!!
My DD got dolls of the mil as soon as she was born , the full on works ones mind you, like mini baby borns they were, bottles and bibs, pillows etc, shes only just playing with them properly now, but its oh so cute to watch.
It will be good for her..although those cabbage patch dolls arnt too soft, Ive heard of many split heads etc with them being thrown around..but they are lovely dolls arnt they!!
Good luck and have fun :)

My DD is 18mths old and she loves her dolls. She calls them her babies. She puts them to sleep and gives them kisses, cuddles, feeds them, gives them a dummy and also make the sucking noise when she feeds them. She even sleeps with her babies. We also bought the stroller and she wheels them around the house in it. They are never too young to get their first doll. You can get one that have an all over soft body and they are great for a first doll.
I've been wondering this too, my dd has a teddy named Nougat that she has had from birth & he is her baby but I was thinking maybe the time was right to buy her, her first dolly:yes: I'm not sure which one to get yet & so will be watching this thread with interest, thanks Sassymummy :smiliedance:

I think she's at the perfect age for a dolly  !
We bought DD her first one when she was 12 months (a soft baby doll from Big W) and she loves her. She carries her around hugging her and saying "aaaahhhh". She makes her happy
I bought my dd a soft dolly (ragdoll type) for her first Christmas when she was 9 months old ... "Sally" is still a favourite friend!
EJ has a 'Baby's first baby' doll that she got when about 4 months old - She plays with it alot - It seems pretty safe as in nothing that can come off easily. It also washable which is good. She gives the doll kisses lol The face is a softish plastic and the rest is all soft. She also has a completely knitted clown that one of my SILs made her thats she has recently started to really like.

Bought her a cabbage patch doll today...
I've made a new thread up about it...(I chose a black doll for my white daughter...some people seem to think that's odd...).
Anyway, her name was "Jamie Mira" and she has 3 teeth and is too cute!
