I've just been told I have a low positive result for anti cardiolipin antibodies. I'm 7 weeks into my pregnancy and would love to hear from anyone who has heard of this or has experienced it and gone through to deliver a healthy baby. I was told a negative result is anything under 20 and my result was 20.

Hi

I was told that my cardiolipin antibodies were border line, but nothing to worry about. I was pregnant but m/c, Dr said levels weren't high enough to have caused m/c, she also suggested I start taking 1/4 asprin a day as that should help and shouldn't harm baby if you are pregnant.

Hi Jodie, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I've actually already been taking low dose asprin since I was 5wks. Thanks for the tip anyway.

I recently found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant. About 5 years ago, I had 3 miscarriages in a row. I have since divorced, and remarried. My husband and I would now like to have a child. I have two children, both born not knowing about my cardiolipin problem. My oldest is 13, youngest is 7. At the time of the miscarriages, I found out that I have a cardiolipin disease, and that I would need to inject heprin twice a day. I started the therapy yesterday. I just want to hear from someone that has had something similar to this with a normal delivery. I would like to know what to expect, and what the outlook is for me. I am injecting 10,000 ml per day, which they said is a low dose. Does anyone have any insight on this subject?

Hi,

I was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome nearly five years ago now. I do not know if it is similar, but having a quick look on the web it seems similar. I lost my first baby at 18 weeks as we were unaware of the syndrome. After a series of blood tests I was diagnosed.

The second pregnancy failed at 10 weeks, which at the time I was still living in London and they do not start treatment until week 10, which was obviously too late.

We then moved to Australia and I contacted a consultant here who was familiar with this syndrome. We became pregnant and started treatment as soon as I knew I was pregnant. I now have a wonderful baby girl, born in December.

My treatment was daily low dose asprin and 40mg of Clexane daily until week 36. I had monthly scans and monthly consultant appointments to ensure baby was growing and developing properly. I was induced at week 37, as the consultant said there was no point going longer in the pregnancy as I and baby were healthy. She was a small baby, but I understand that all babies born with mothers with this syndrome are small.

I had a natural delivery, but it was a case of see how the induction goes and see how the labour develops to whether I would deliver naturally or have to have a C-section. Mya and I are now both well and I am so thankfull I finally have her.

I hope this has helped in some way. If you want to speak more please contact me.

Good luck
Vanessa
