Since DD came along 31st March, have been thoroughly confused dealing with issue after issue - first couldn't breastfeed eventually conquered that one too come home and face first bought of mastitis and chicken pox at the same time, conquered those, then got a second lot of mastitis - this time went to hospital to have operation on breast in the meantime DD got chicken pox and cradle cap! Being in hospital and unable to look after her had no choice but to put her on formula (besides the shock dried up my breasts virtually overnight!) - knowing nothing about formula - opted for S26 Gold - after initial slight constipation ended up normal but then she developed severe allergy eyes and ecezma! On doc's rec's we stopped milk based formula and switched to soy based formula. Skin and eyes cleared up within a week (except ugly cradle cap which is still coming and going) but we've been battling constipation ever since! We've been giving cooled boiled water and when that didn't work started on prune juice, things were normal for a while and then went backwards. Every day she starts of with a hard poo, followed by a soft formed poo and then proper pasty poo - just as we think breakthrough the cycle starts over again. I am giving water between every single feed and her poos just refuse to be consistent. After reading all the entries to this site I can't help but think maybe I need to change formula again (especially with the info on soy not being so crash hot)? I do not want to use Coloxyl or other chemically made things to help her as I do not agree with overloading her already sensitive little body with chemicals and it's not like she can't get the poos out!
What happens if you change formula too often:confused:

Hi Coco Bean,

This is a tough one. My DS had colic and I changed formula quite a few times to get the right one. But I have heard that its not good to keep chopping and changing but in the same sense you need to find one that suits your bub.

Given the excema situation I would pribably advise that you continue to go by what your dr or CHN says because i would hate for that to flare up again.

Sorry I couldnt help more.
