I don't have any recommendations sorry. But if you can but the little sticks of formula or the little sachets, as a tin only lasts 1 month after opened.

I agree with emysmum in buying the sticks of formula coz if your not going to use the whole tin, its pretty expensive to waste. Karicare have the little sticks of formula.

As for which one is close to breast milk, I dont have any idea. But I do hear alot of bubs get constipated on S26 as it has a very high iron content.

I use Karicare.

Bet lil Monique is getting big! Still havent had a chance to meet her at the Bubhub meets yet! I havent been able to get to any for ages. Hope to catch up soon!

Hi,
Unfortunately the formula companies have not developed a Formula which comes close to the living milk which our bodies provide. Formula is not interchangeable with Breastmilk and just one bottle will increase the risk of many disease processes which breastfeeding exclusively for 6 months promotes.

Also introducing formula feeds early on in your breastfeeding does impact on your supply and longevity of feeding. (meaning that if you give formula your supply can drop and your baby has an increased likelyhood of ending up needing to have more formula because your supply will not be enough.) Breastfeeding exclusively for the first 6 months is recommended for by the WHO because that is what is best for your babies development.

The risks (http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/milk/infant-formula.html) of Formula.

Please think about it:fingerscrossed: .

I was going to suggest the same. We have 2 sachets of formula here for the -just in case emergency moments- as we're planning on breast feeding exclus. for 6 months and didn't want a tin.
Chris really wanted me to get the sachets in case I was sick or something happened to me, he wouldn't need to panic down at the chemist to find a suitable formula :)

Good luck :D

How about pumping more to help increase your supply to freeze? Sadly, no formula comes close to the wonders in your breastmilk!

We all know that breastmilk is best but you can never be too careful. It's better for bub to have formula than to be hungry waiting for Mum to get home (and Mum stressing to get home in time to feed bubs).

I used Karicare and S26 Gold for situations like this. He took to it straight away which was great.:)

Im so over ppl saying that bottle feeding increases the risk of many diseases. I was bottlefed due to personal reasons of mymother and i have never had any disease or serious illness in my life.

Whoever come up with these so called Facts quite obviously has no idea why some of us cannot breastfeed.

I'll second that.

I also wanted to say that Breast Feeding isn't always best for the baby. There are woman who can't BF and it's not their fault. People should really think about what they say before they say it. This is what causes most women to get depressed, I know that it is one of the main reasons for my PND. We don't need people rubbing our noses in it.

True - lots of women can't breastfeed.
True - it's not their fault. It's due to bad information and limited breastfeeding support.
Also true - a lot of women have been forced to give up breastfeeding after introducing complementary formula feeds, which makes your milk supply drop.
Also true - a lot of women who introduced "just one bottle of formula" wish to god they'd never done it.

Pumping and freezing BM is a much better option than introducing formula unnecessarily. I know it seems like a lot of work. When I was BFing and pumping for DD, I found that pumping from one breast while feeding from the other (requires either a supportive partner or 3 extra hands ;)) got me a good amount to stick in the freezer.

Stick to your choices, you can read the research, you can also choose to feed your baby in the manner that suits you.

When I did manage to get DD to take formula she took Heinz.

I will be starting a lot earlier with DS this time round and will use Heinz again.

Good luck.

i am now formula feeding due to i had a gastro bug really bad was in hospital for 2 days on a drip when bubs was 2 weeks old and i couldn't breastfeed due ever time she latch on i would throw up so i expressed instead and i gave her that but due to not eating or drinking for 2 days my milk supply went down alot and to top it off the night i left the hospital i got mastitis in both breasts i was so sick with that and my milk supply was quite low i was feeding her for 20-30 mins on each breast then having to give her a bottle of formula of 50-60mls as well i did this for 1 week and then the child and youth nurse told me it was ok and that i should feel bad i was getting quite depressed about not being able to feed her only bm but this nurse said look she will be fine on the formula i was not sleeping and not fully recovered from my illness i made the decision to stop bf and go on to bottles i felt quite sad about it but it was out of my control she also was not putting weight on she is 4 weeks today and she only yesturday went past her birth weight so what i say is yes bf is great i had planned to do it for as long as i could maybe 1 yr but hey fate took it out of my hands so dont feel bad she had 3 1/2 weeks of bf and she is putting on weight so dont feel bad do what is best for baby and what is best for you as well and dont let anyone tell you failed because i didnt :yelclap:

thanks guys especially for the comment on the sachets,, i remember now i used this with my first son, very convenient,, i bought some, but since have managed to store about 6 feeds in the freezer , i left her with my mum one day for the first time while i took my neices to seaworld and the milk i expressed at seaworld went on the pirate ship that many times im suprised it didnt turn into butter!! I do like having back up , its peace of mind.. if it is needed., its there.
