View Full Version : More Underwear Issues
Hi
I am just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good bra (not maternity yet) for larger bust sizes. I was a 12DD before pregnant and now at 24weeks at an 12-14F cup which I am finding is not available at many stores. I am finding that i need support while sleeping at night now but need a break from wearing something around my chest as it feels like my ribs are going to snap. The suggestions i keep getting from supposed 'fitters' are wearing sports tops with the bra inside, which are fine if you are a 10A or a 12B, they definately do not manufacture these tops with a DD-F cup in mind.
Also, any good lingerie shops to buy from in Perth, not really into buying bras online, unless i know what i am getting.
Any thoughts are appreciated, my placenta brain has kicked in and starting to dribble.
:ecomcity:
Thanks in advance

I can only recommend the Loveable maternity bras for sleeping in. I dont even know I have it on its that comfy. I wear that one for sleeping in and a Triumph maternity one for everyday. I gave up the underwire at 8 weeks due to extremely sore boobies. Maternity ones are really comfy especially for sleeping. I just went to David Jones because they have a good maternity range and you get properly fitted. Good luck!

yeah, I recommend getting into a maternity bra, they are made for pregnancy as well, might as well get good use out of them - and they are obviously made in larger sizes (I went up to E, I still fit well into those bras, or DD- not much change, I'm still BFing though). I went to Bras n Things, don't like the price, but it's important to get properly fitted:yes:

I am exactly the same size as you...and i get my bras from either bras n things or innerwear (if you have that over there!?)
when you do start looking for a maternity bra, i totally recommend the triumph ones (from myer or david jones i think)...It;s the only one that gives me enough support, and doesn't make me look ridiculous lol.
I hate wearing a bra at night, so i usually wear one of those singlet top things with the shelf bra inside iykwim. They dont' give much support obviously, but it's better than nothing, and i don't feel too restricted iykwim.
OMG!! I thought I was the only one. I started as a 14DD and now, at 27 weeks, have just been fitted for a 14-H. Good lord, I hope yours have stopped growing!!
I thought that I would not be able to get a maternity bra that still lifted & separated so that I didnt' look like I had just one boob across my chest! Because of this, i put off looking and stuck with my underwire, but, like you, I swear it bruised my ribs and I finally gave in and shopped for a non-underwire.
I also live in perth and would recommend 2 places - David jones in the city (they do great fittings). THe maternity bra I bought last week from a lingere store in Subiaco on Rokeby Road (Hidden Lace 184 Rokeby Rd, Subiaco ph: (08) 9381 4592). Being this big, even an F is really hard to get bras for. Companies just don't seem to think that this is normal even though the women who do the fittings see larger breasted women all the time. You really don't end up with much of a selection but at least if you go somewhere that fits well, you will have a good bra that lasts the distance. Try those 2 places and let me know what you think.
For night-time, I bought those loveable maternity singlets with the inside shelf (2 for $60). I saw in Hidden lace a different brand that seemed to be much more supportive than the regular singlet tops which might be better for you. I am definatly going to buy at least one just before my due date (just incase I grow more!! I hope not).
Good luck. Hope this helped

Nice to know there are others with big boobies as well- I wore soft cup bra in pregnancy- can't remember the brand- but it was so comfy- very boring looking. You shouldn't wear underwire in pregnancy as it can do damage to your delicate breast tissue with all the growing etc. I was quite unsure that a soft cup could do the job- but it was fine- and heaps more comfy.
Now I wear a Triumph one- depending on the brand I am a G- can you believe boobs get that big. I grew a lot after having bubs- so don't buy too many while you are pregnant, as you just don't know what's going to happen- also- I've bought many sizes as I've changed shape from when I first had the bubs.
