View Full Version : Food masher thingy...
Hi
I'm starting Eleni on solids soon, and was wondering if anyone can recommend a food blender/puree machine thingy... I have a big food processer, but it's too big and unwieldy to use for just 1 apple! Any hints, tips or recommendations would be appreciated...
Cheers!

I bought one of the stab/stick blenders from kmart for around $10.... just put the food in something like a measuring jug and stab until smooth!!!
I found it worked very well and was rather cheap and easy to clean!
:D
I used my big food processor and just got some small containers, the decor ones with the tags you can write on, 250ml ones. Just put in the amount bub eats at a meal and freeze, then you can take them out and defrost them when you need them. Frozen stuff has gotta be better than jars of food.
If you want a small food processor I think Target has a really small one for about $20. Or you could try one of the stick mixer thingys, there is a few of them I have seen that have a small bowl that goes on the end, making it like a small food processor.
Hope this has helped a bit :)

with freezing food:
i used to just spoon the veggies in to icecube trays and freeze it like that... this way u can have different types of veggies to mix and match!

We are using Munchkin baby grinder, so easy to use just fill, grind and serve! Its so compact you can take it anywhere! Baby Kingdom might have it, even Target or KMart
use your food precessor and do HEAPS at one time, saves you alot of trouble. Then freeze in small containers or ice cube trays. Tupperware have great ice cube trays with lids, these are great, once frozen then put the cubes into freezer bags (zip lock ones)
You can freeze any foods including apple and then just defrost in the microwave or by sitting the container / bowl in hot water.

I just used a plain old cheap blender to process steamed veg and cooked fruit. You might have to blend in batches but it was fine from about 6 months to 10 months.
I use a Braun hand mixer, it's sooooooo great it has an attachment thats like a minni food processer. I don't know how I'd cope with out it. I use the ice cube trays to freeze it but when your kid gets bigger or eats more you can to the same with minni muffin pans lined with plastic, It works great!
Hi Guys!
Thanks for the tips... I bought a Black and Decker Mini Food Processor from Kmart for $23. It's great for little batches at the moment, until I know what she likes to eat. When we have it sorted I'll use my big processor and do huge batches and freeze in the Tupperware ice cube trays - thanks for the hints!!
Cheers!
