Swine flu....is anyone else starting to think....

Don't get me wrong, I don't want my kids to be sick :( (they are getting coughs though, so they may already have it....) I have kept them out of school all of last week as it is rampant around here atm........

BUT, reading about how it could possibly mutate and become alot worse in a 2nd or 3rd wave is very scary. Considering it is Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it could become alot worse come their Winter.....

Reading about the 1918 pandemic, makes me worried that alot worse is to come....50 million died back then, I have read some theories that it cold be 100 million if it happened this time....

I prefer not to catch it at all, It scares the cr@p out of me now for DD if it was even worse I would be more scared I really dont know.


I know DDs pead team are stongly recomened she be vaxed for it as any sort of flu is likely to finsh her let alone swine flu, Im scared eitherway.

I am getting a bit scared about it all really. :( It is a bit of a worry, even with Ds3's mild kidney issues...it must be way more worrying having a child with multiple issues :hugs:

I don't want to catch it at all either....I am just thinking out loud that we might be trying to avoid something that might come back worse later....it is already soooooo contagious as it is.

when I read the OP, I instantly thought of people having swine flu parties (you know like chickenpox ones some people have lol)

i'm trying to avoid getting it if pos, just because DD does not cope well with viris' at all, she ended up being hospitalised twice last year with viris' that genrally just cause sore throats and runny nose in most people, but with her she got full on pneumonia, so I would hate to think what would happen if she caught the swine flu, or any flu really

I too have heard that it might mutate, to something worse, but who's to say, that if you did catch it now, and then it mutates that you won't get it the second or third time, we all know the "normal" flu mutates each year, and most people catch that flu each year iykwim

thats what i ws just thinking, if you get the strain that is around now and it mutates perhaps wouldnt be then immune to the mutation KWIM same with the Vax if the strain mutates are you then not immune to that strain
