What is your experience with this?

My 3 bdr house with study is actually a study 'nook' so i can't make it a guest bedroom. I hate not having a guest bedroom especially at the sunshine coast where EVERYbody visits!

I have a 2 and a half year old and a 16 month old and was wondering if and when a good time would be to have them share a room?

I guess it depends on how individual kids sleep - ie heavy sleeper vs light sleeper etc and how often (and loudly!) they wake during the night.

How old were your little ones and particularly how far apart are they?

My logic tells me it would be better to wait until they are at similar developmental stages - obviously they'll never be entirely similtaneous but you know what i mean - both sleeping at the same time, both sleeping thru etc...

Mods can you please correct my spelling in the title??

I have a friend called Syble and it naturally rolls off my fingers!

Mine started I think about the age of DS2- 1yr and DS1- 2yrs 9 mths:confused:. The youngest won't go without the oldest:hugs:. They go to bed at the same time. They do wake each other up sometimes, but usually only when sick. But a lot of the time they don't care about the other one carrying on. We don't have any problems:thumbsup:.

I fixed your title for you :)

My girls are 15 mths apart. The plan was that they would eventually share but they have such different sleeping patterns that we've had to put it off and Miss 19 mths still sleeps in our room in her own little purpose built alcove. It will happen but we just have to get them more aligned iykwim :)

thank you!

Yes 'aligned' is the word I was looking for. My 16 month old sleeps thru but its the 2y/o that has been waking several times in the night scared of various things. Perhaps he would go better with his little brother in the room? Might give it a trial run without doing the whole big move.

i have a 3.5 and a 1.5 yr old and they only recently started sharing. I havent found it too bad, arvo naps are a bit of a task and more often than not i cant be bothered trying so i let them stay up.
They sleep great together and get up around the same time. 1 thing i have done tho is make the room a purely sleep zone. no toys etc beds and clothes only the toy boxes are in another room. I think this has help to keep them in their beds and not up playing with eachother.

Mine are 14 months apart and I had them sharing a room from the time DS2 was 4 months old. I did have to separate them when they were about 3 and 4 because they would constantly interfere with each other (lucky I had 4 bedrooms at the time) and would be up until 10pm and then awake again at 5am:hair:. They were separated for about 2 years (partly because the room wouldn't fit two single sized beds in it) but are now back together and do fine. They're 6 and 7 now and since I'm in a 2 bedroom unit there is no way I could separate them again (no need to, thank goodness).
Give it a week of trialling and see how they go.
Good luck
