"In ancient Greek mythology, the birth of the Milky Way is explained by a story about Zeus, Hera, and Heracles. The great god Zeus had a son by a mortal woman. To win the immortality of the gods, the baby had to suckle milk from the breast of the goddess Hera, married to Zeus. Because Hera refused to feed Heracles, Zeus devised a plan to put the baby to her breast while she was asleep. One night when Zeus thought Hera was sleeping, he put little Heracles to her breast. However, Hera was just pretending to sleep and, in anger, she tore the baby off, and the milk sprayed all over the sky, creating the Milky Way."
