I hope this sees you in time before you sail off into the wide blue yonder but I went on one in 2001 and it was the best holidays I have ever been on and also the cheapest.I cant understand why more people arent doing it as it would have to be the best value for money holiday ever. The drinks arent too expensive there is a huge range of age groups and you can do as little or or much as you want.My then Husband grew up in inland Australia hated the beach and was more comfortable around the cattle yard than around the poolside. He was very dubious about it all but by the time we got back he could not stop talking about it.I would get into trouble if the photos of our trip were not at the ready for any visitors who would happen to call in.We even joked about trying to stowaway in the toilets on board before having to leave!!!One and only whinge was that I have never had to line up for so long for so many things in my life but that was just a small thing.
Hi, Ive got the opposite experience. I went on a P&O cruise and it was the WORST holiday Ive ever been on. Depends what you are looking for though. Ours was supposed to be a romatic get away given as a wedding gift but with 2000+ other people it was impossible for it to be that way. We didn't like that we were told where to be at what time to eat and you had designated people to eat with and you got off the boat aprox 10am and had to be back on at aprox 3pm so you didn't get to explore your destinations much at all. Everyone got sick due to the germs going through the aircon system and a friend of ours has just been on it and said the same thing. For 2000+ guests there are only something liek 50 deck chairs (or some ridiculously low number) and its just so crowded. The ages were either 18 year olds there for the nightclubs and such or much much older people and a few families with young kids but not many on our trip.
On the other side though, now that we have kids, I would probably like it from the perspective of they have a kids club and quite a few activities for children and its a fully planned holiday. At the time this didn't suite us at all.
Drinks were cheap but can't remember how cheap. Think it was a couple of bucks for a cocktail.
Hope that helps.
