Is anyone planning on going back to work soon?
How old will bubs be?
Will you be fulltime or parttime?
Are you working from home?
What kind of work will you be doing? The same as before?
Who will look after bubs?
Are you breastfeeding? How do you plan to continue to breastfeed?

I'm going back to work in August. DD will be just over 4 months old.
I was working fulltime in childcare but I'm currently organising to work from home parttime doing family day care :) which I'm really happy about because then I can stay with dd whilst I work!
Another reason this is so good for me is because I'm breastfeeding and have had such a hard time with it I'd hate to have to give it up not long after we've finially got it all sorted. And for me expressing is just so difficult and I know I'd never get enough for her and would end up having to give her formula which I'd rather not do.

ME! i'm going back to work on the 19th August. I'll be working part time; every wednesday and every second saturday. DS will go to a childcare centre on the wednesday and be with DH the saturdays. I'll be doing the same work as before (recovery nurse) and i'll still breastfeed. I'm allowed two lactation breaks per shift (unpaid) and i'll give DS whatever EBM i can and if there's not enough and my frozen EBM runs out, then i'll cross that bridge when we get to it! (i plan to express as much as i can between now and then but at the moment its more important to give DS as much breastmilk as possible including EBM).

Im only on call for after school care, and have done 3 shifts so far. im still feeding but its not too hard as i only work 3.5 hours max just by 5.30pm my boobs hurt!

i think i might look into what has to be done around here to do family day care. tegan what did you have to do? how many children are you taking on? and how many days??

Sort-of....I was made redundant in June last year, which is when we decided we may as well have the third bubs before I looked for a new job and had to wait 12months for maternity leave....fast fwd to now and 4 kids under 5 - working just isn't worth it, the daycare $$ would be too high.

I started doing Tupperware last year too, and will start doing some parties again soon. My sis has lined up a fundraiser for me in a few weeks, it's a family day so DH will be at the fair type thing with the babies and i'll feed them when I need to. Once they are on solids I will start booking parties again. I will express for them too, but at least once they are on solids I can leave them for longer, knowing they won't starve. I was usually only away for max 4-5hrs including travel, so it should only ever be one feed they get EBM for.

I went back to work today, really didnt want to though! We normally sleep in till 10 but I was up at 8 this morning( I know not that early!) My boss is my mum and owns a child care centre and she flew out to Bali yesterday so I went in to make sure they were all doing the right thing.... Didnt get much work done though with Blair needing to be fed (BF) or cuddled, settled etc.

I will just do part time hours now until prob Dec when she is 6 months then return full time. Will be doing the same job but just wont be doing any 6.30am starts as we are by ourselves until the next staff starts and I dont think I would be able to manage looking after Blair aswell as the other chn by myself.

Hey! I wasnt planning on going back to work this early but due to money issues i have to...
I go back to work end of August!! My twins will be nearly 4 months then!! I will only be working part time as im a single mum and my parent have to work during the week but im going to be working Fri and Sat nights so they can look after them for me! Ill be working as a chef which is the same work as before but just in a diff restaurant... i was very lucky to fall ino this job as i needed to be very fussy with when i could work but they were so good about it as my soon to be boss was a single mum with her first child so i guess she understood!!

In a way im kind of looking forward to doing a little bit of work as i havent had anytime without the twins since they were born... dont get me wrong i dont want to miss anything with them but i think for my sanity i need to do something else now and then!!

Also i can only do these two nights as i recieve the single parent pension and i cant afford to loose that so ive spoken to centrelink and we workeed out how many hours i could do before it affected my payment!!

Im going back to work in August, but only doing Thursday's until November when I go back full time. :crying:
I wasnt meant to go back at all till Nov but money..... We do not get any financial assistance what so ever from Centrelink :hissy: and had to save big time for us to have DS.

I am a Business Dev Exec for an Insurance Finance company so my hours and where i work from are pretty flexible. For my one day a week ill either work from home or be on the road seeing clients, Mum will watch DS here at our house. When I go back full time ill work 2 days from home (DS with me) and 3 days either in the office or on the road. DS will be with Mum for 2 days a week and im currently trying to get him into day care one day a week.

Hopefully the one day a week wont effect my BF ill either work my day around feed times or mum can use EBM but once I go back in Nov i think that might be the end of the road for us unfortunetely. Ill just have to play it by ear. I really hope we work it out because I enjoy BF more then i imagined i would. :yelclap:

All of this said my company has been hit hard by the Financial Crisis and has already made 30% of staff redundant, i kept my job which was surprising as I was on mat leave but there may be worse to come in Sept depending on our financial backing etc so I may be made redundant then..Who knows. Sucks that its so unstable but out of my control.

I plan not to go back to work until the start of April next year (if money permits and interest rates don’t rise too much). William will be about 10 months. I hope to work part-time. About 2-3 days would be good. I don’t mind going back to work on a part-time basis. Haven’t worked out what we plan to do with him when I go back to work.

I plan to go back one dat a week from october (im a midwife) so theres plenty of work out there. Im just going to go back as a casual, but Dh can work from home and be flexible with his hours so I can do up to 3 days a week if I feel up to it.... Ill start back in October and Katelyn will be nearly 4 months. I plan to express and Dh can bottle feed her... not looking forward to going back and leaving my princess

Hi ladies, its hard isn't it, striking the balance between family and finance commitments!! :dizzy:

Is anyone planning on going back to work soon? Yep! I get to pick my start date... probably end of Feb/beginning of March

How old will bubs be? Bubs will be 8/9 months old

Will you be fulltime or parttime? Fulltime, but work from home 3 days a week

Are you working from home? See above!

What kind of work will you be doing? Im going back to study full-time next year with a scholarship.

Who will look after bubs? My MIL, 2 days a week.

Are you breastfeeding? How do you plan to continue to breastfeed? Im fully BF atm. I plan to cut out DS'S day feeds and replace with formula, and keep BF his morning/night feeds.

I want to add another question... Will you be happy going back? Yes! We can afford (just) for me to be a SAHM but I love studying and Im getting paid to do it. :flowerz:

Hi Shazzi, i'm an RN and my work area are using so much agency atm so when i said i wanted to come back early (due to financial reasons) they were so accomodating! i'm going to work every wednesday and every second saturday from 8am onwards. i work in a private hosp though, with no breastfeeding policies so i really had to beg for unpaid 1/2 hour lactation breaks.

Wow! I didn't expect so many of us going back to work so soon. I guess its a sad reflection on the times....
I don't want to go back to work - not because I don't want to work but because it means I can't give dd 100% of me. Although I'll be working from home I'll have up to 3 other children to share my attention around with and it's going to be bloody hard work! These children will all be pre-school ages so yeh...I know I can do it because I've done it for 5 years in a long day care setting but I think when one of them is your own it's going to be a huge learning curve.

dh is the stay at home dad. I am on maternity leave until january. ds will be 7 months old then and dd will be starting prep. Both dh and I are not working for the rest of the year :yelclap: ...but then I will have to go and earn more money . My dh gave up work when we had dd and he is the best stay at home dad. I would be a terrible stay at home mum, I don't have the patience and really need my work to have something to do with my brain. I always love holidays with my family, but need to go back to work at the end of them. dh on the other hand never wants to work again (maybe when they are in highschool).

I'm looking at going back for 1 or 2 days in October/November. DD will be 6/7 months. I want to be a SAHM but the extra $$ will help. With my work i might be able to do nights & weekend shifts so DH can look after DD.

I don't have a job to go back to, I was only doing temp work before bubs was born. I'll probably be starting to look for work in September. I'd like to stay at home longer but we need the $$.

Im very lucky that the public health system has to provide you with lactation breaks and they are paid. You get 20 mins every 4 hours of work I think. I work at a big maternity hospital so youd expect them to be accomodating. Its a shame you had to beg for your rights....

If they hadn't allowed it then iwould have gone to the CEO and showed him the WA Health brochure on breastfeeding at work and asked for the same privileges. i'm quite sure he would have allowed it etc. OR i could just apply for a job in the public sector. i'm sure i could get one being a recovery nurse.

I will be going back to work full time in December :(. Not looking forward to it, not that I don't like work, but I will miss my boy!
I don't have a job to go back to, but should be able to go back to where I was working (they said they would be keen to have me back).
Not looking forward to the whole expressing at work thing (find it hard to get anything out of my breasts when I express at the moment).
My work gives you an hour (I think) of paid lactation breaks every day, and provide a room and breast pumps, the really good hospital ones, so that should make things easier.
DH will be staying home with DS 3 days a week, and then we will have to investigate some sort of childcare for the other 2 days a week.
