OJ is 10 weeks old and will only sleep in my arms or right next to me so he knows I am there. He only cat naps durimg the day and I am wondering if that is because he is not in total darkness or a quiet room. Not sure if 10 weeks is too young to start CC, but I really need time to actaully do house work or sleep by myself without waking with a kink in my neck or back.

How often should a 10 week old sleep? I mean if he had his way he would stay up all day but then he is really grumpy all day.

Do you do controlled crying at night and day?

Also they say let them grumble grumble cry and then when they scream go in and comfort etc.

But my little man will cry and then scream straight away ( I think due to being spoilt and knows that mum will jump straight up and go to him - sometimes I think he just like to keep me on my toes and see how high he can make me jump LOL) He also likes me to talk to him all the time and gets bored and fustrated very quickly if I walk away for a second or am not aping any attention to him.

As you can see I think I have already started some very bad habits for him and are building a rod for my own back?

Any suggestion would be great thanks

I'm not sure it's possible to spoil a new baby , but sleep deprivation is terrible so I will bump up your thread to you and hopefully someone can offer you some constructive advice. Be sure to check out the "no cry sleep solutions" too if you are open to a different approach :):hugs:

give it a few more weeks and he will be a different bub! 10 weeks is to young for CC, just put you feet up and snooze with him and dont freak about the housework etc. He will grow so quickly you will turn around and he will be 12 months old!
Have you tried him in a sling. He will sleep and you can do the house work at the same time.

They say not to use any CC/ CIO methods before 6 months. I think Kezza's suggestion of a sling is a great idea  And she is also corrct in that once you pass that magical 3 month mark, things will begin to change for the better!

Housework schmousework! No one cares what your house loosk like- you had a baby 10 weeks ago ffs!

I, I ALSO agree with Malol, check out the no cry sleep solution section :)

I started CC at 8 weeks, bub is now 7 months. Here is a link to our sleep docs website/book if you are interested. If you do CC, you should always start with the night time sleeps, the day sleeps are harder to get right. If OJ isn't used to CC then doing it in the day might not be successful. How are your night sleeps? There are other techniques obviously, but this worked really well for us.
