View Full Version : Advice about weaning and sleep!

I'm after some advice in advance - please help if you can! My 17 mo old DD currently feeds to sleep for her afternoon sleep, but I've decided to wean her off this feed on Saturday, which of course means she needs to go to sleep w/o the feed. She goes to sleep in her cot at night (with one of us in the room the whole time - arghhhh!) so I know she can go to sleep in the cot, but I have very grave misgivings about whether or not she'll want to!

She just screamed for an hour because she couldn't get enough milk to actually fall asleep so I put her in the cot to go to sleep and she wouldn't have a bar of it. I don't mind sitting in there with her (I'll solve that issue another time) but I leave the room when she won't lie down when I tell her to (she understands perfectly what I mean because she lies down at night). I ended up picking her up and rocking her to sleep after an hour today, which at least means she is having a sleep - I don't want her thinking that no feed = no sleep.

Any advice about how to make the change would be very much appreciated!! :)

I don't know if this is going to be of any help, but we have 2 cots for Ozzy (1 is a portacot) and at night he sleeps in his normal cot. And during the day in another room we have the portacot for him to sleep in. We tried putting him in the 'night' cot to sleep during the day and he will not have a bar of that cause it isn't night time iykwim!

That's the only suggestion I have I am sorry. But hopefully I have just bumped this thread up and someone else may know the answer.;)
