Hi, im hoping someone can help me. My little dd is an absolute little cookie monster when it comes to feeding time and tries to gulp the bottle down so fast that she doesnt breath at the same time then chokes herself and then will give herself bad wind. I have to constantly remove the bottle to make her calm down every few sips.
Anyway the question i have is im sure there is a teat you can buy that the milk doesnt drip out of it but the baby has to suck in order for her to get any milk. I was wondering if anyone knew what brand it is or of any teats like this that i could use.
I am currently using avent bottles and their extra soft flowing newborn teats for colic etc but they are still too fast for her.
I noticed someone mentioned the brand name prima on another thread, does anyone know anything about these and are they good for this problem?
She is 5weeks old now and has been like this since week 1,and she is getting fed enough so its not like she's starving.:banghead:
Any suggestions or advise would be great.:)
Try a Nuk ventilated teat, they're around $11 for 2 and they're the only ones I have used for my boys. Though if you have a steam steriliser get the silicone not latex ones.
You may have to change your bottles though, they probably won't fit on an avent bottle. I normally use tommee tippee bottles.
You can buy cross cut teats. The milk is released according to the strength of baby's suck. Hope this helps. You can buy them almost anywhere. You can pick them up pretty cheap at chemists.

Thanks for the advice, ill check them both out and see how i go.
:fingerscrossed:
i hav the same problem with my boy he is 11 wks now and i still havn't found good teats so i will b watching this space to get some ideas. i was told the other week by my sisters mother in law to try giving bub 1 teaspoon of cooled black tea ( a doctor told her this when her youngest was born and was really windy) i did and it helped my son. he was really windy and was crying so i gave him some and within 5/10 mins he was out like a light and for a few hrs too. so now he has his cuppa every morning and is happier for it:smiliedance:

Ive ordered the nuk teats in at the local chemist so ill get them tomorrow and see how they go, she ordered me a nuk bottle too in case they wont fit my avent bottles.
I hope they work cause ive been told to give her at least 30mls water twice a day or spread it out thru the day so her poo's will be softer but the only problem is the water flows so fast and she gets wind real bad from it so im not wanting to give the water cause she wont sleep from the pain after it.
Talk about frustrating, you sort one thing out only to create another.
You could syringe the water to her....?
Won't hurt and that way she is getting it very slowly.
Just a thought.

If they dont work try the cross cut teat Tommee Tippee work & this was all that Boof would take as of 4wks he hated all other teats.
They have to suck to release the milk so are good for colic & wind.
You can get them in the large size for the big bottles & the small sized for normal bottles !
Good luck hope you find something that works :)
