Having problems getting DS (6 months) to sleep in cot. Thought a blankie or a Doudou (blankie with a toy head on it) might help. Have others found this a helpful sleeping tool?

Wanted to get some feedback before I fork out for 2 of them (if it works I'll need a 'spare'!).

I thought DD would take to a blankie but hasnt yet, shes 8 months but DS only wanted it when he was about 12 months. I dont think they take to it straight away but they get used to it and it becomes a comfort thing. Dont know if this helps.

We had one for DD when she was a newbie and she still sleeps with it now 3 years later!

What will probably help is if you sleep with it for one night then it'll have your smell on it, something that makes it 'special'.

When my son was little i put one of my shirts in the cot with him,,, It seemed to help him settle as it smelled like me... he had it in there for only a couple of days then was fine:)

I used one of my shirts which had my smell on it, Left it in the cot for a couple of days with my son then once he had got use to sleeping in there i took it out.

I put one of my old shirts with my smell in the cot with my son for a couple of days until he got use to sleeping in there by himself.

All of my kids have had one and DD 8 months loves hers :)

ds 1 is 4 in aug and sleeps with a blankey with a dogs head on it. he has had it since about 3 months old and sleeps everynight with it, hasnt missed a night. i have a spare but he wont take to it as its to new and not worn in.
ds 2 is 3.5 mths old and i have just intorduced same thing but has a lions head. u have a spare and ill wear the both of them in this time

Ah. Good point. i'll make sure i have them on an even rotation. And might cuddle it myself for a few nights first! :hugs:(for the smell... of course!)
