Dr Antony Underwood

Hi everyone, Just wondering if any of you have heard of or been to see a Dr Antony Underwood. He is a Peaditrition in Gordon and I am told he is REALLY very good with allergies, and gut problems.

Please if anyone has heard of him or anything about him can you let me know as he is the last person on a LONG list of dr and specialists that I have to see about my little man and he is getting tired of me telling HIS story to so many people.

I see Dr Underwood every 6 weeks. I started seeing him mid 2007 ,and he was recommended to my by many people. 2 mums, my son's osteopath and also my local doctor. I was so glad I finally got an appointment to see him. I had done all I could so far. My son has receptive language delay but also associated behaviours related to this delay. I have finally now found out, via blood tests and also hair sample test, that he was low in iron and has very high lead and mercury metals in his body. These are toxic elements and these are causes of language disorders and behavioural issues, amongst many other things. We are at the stage of chellating ( detoxing his system of these metals ) via the natural route first.

My son is 5 and unfortunately when there is high lead and mercury, the damage neurologically to his brain has been done and is irreversible i.e. the language delay this has caused my son whilst he was developing is irreversible. The main thing is getting rid of these toxic metals in the body so my son can move forward with is life and also language should improve without these metals being in his system.

We do everything. He is on a non-additive diet, ( when possible of course. We do break the rules sometimes eg. at parties ,,but he does pay for it with hyperactive behaviours ! ) , he takes Efalex, he is on zinc ( the zinc test ), he is on Floradix to get his iron up, which helps beat down the toxic metals as well. We are now on the chellating products such as Pfeiffer Primer IV and after that, he will start Zeolite. That is where we are at now.

Chellating takes a year . If it doesn't work , then we have to take the medical route to get rid of these metals. Also we are in the process of finding someone to come to our house and anaylyse and see if there are these metals in the house and in the soil in the garden. We do live in the inner city so lead levels are obviously going to be higher than if we lived in the country . However we also live in an 100 year old house. Old paint had lead in it and it can remain in particles in the air for at least another 5 years after that.

Anyway Tesme, you have to see Dr Underwood. Try to make an appointment, even if it takes you 2 months wait to see him. It's well worth it but at least you know you are going on the right track and you get "real" information from someone that is an expert in his field.

Although he specialises in Autism disorders as such and using biomedical/ natural treatments to basically treat these disorders, receptive language delay is one of the symptoms of autism so it wasn't going to hurt to see Dr Underwood for me. It has worked out that he is also a wealth of information and will lead you down the right track.
