Hi there
i only have kids in care one day a week - being today - and i wondered if him having a temp but otherwise fine is any reason to keep him home?
if i hadnt felt his hot tummy i wouldt have even thought to check his temp.
thanks!

Geez, this is my pet hate from when DD was in daycare. If her temp was anything over 37.4 they'd send her home, which was almost every week, without her having symptoms at all... ever! She wasn't allowed back until at least 24 hours after a normal temp reading, so if her temp was up at 2pm on Monday and she was sent home, even if it was fine later that day and didn't rise again she wasn't allowed back until Wednesday morning. *sigh*

But policy is policy and it's for your child's sake as well as any others at daycare who don't want to catch anything if your child turns out to be infectious, since a temp is often the first sign.

Perhaps call your centre and see what their policy is... i.e. if no other symptoms and child doesn't appear unwell at all aside from a mild temp then will they allow him there.

Keep your child home. Ever though its just a temp, im sure if another child was at daycare and had a temp (and possibly a virus yet to show) you wouldnt want them playing with your child.

ANonnyMouse, ive not heard of the 24 hour thing though. Mum works in family daycare and as long as no temps that day, theyre ok to come in by her. Guess diff places have diff policies!
