View Full Version : Head Banger?!

The other day, DD was getting her nappy changed on her change table. Usually, after wiping her bum, she'll sit up while I'm getting the next nappy ready. As she did it this time though, she banged her head on the wall.

She had a strange expression on her face, and then she leaned into to wall to do it again! She did this a few times before I stopped her (she later did it on the toilet wall...).

I told my mother, and she goes, "She better not be Autistic!" Before she said that, I wasn't worried. I just figured DD enjoyed listening to the bang sound her head made (she wasn't doing it hard...just enough to make a noise)...but my mother has made me worry.

Advice?

I wouldn't worry about it. Most kids go through this at some stage. If that's all she did then I would start to worry about it. My DS2 started out doing this as just something that he found interesting and then it turned into something he done if he didn't get his way. There is nothing wrong with him. And most of my friends kids have gone through this stage at some time also.

I wouldn't stress about it though.

My son likes to bang his head just before he has a tooth ready to cut. This is usually a good indication to me that it will be through anyday. He bangs his head into the floor, my chest, my chin (ouch!). It doesnt seem to hurt him, he never cries.

Yeah I wouldnt worry about it either. DD has been doing it too, she seems to think its funny. I hate it as I think shes going to hurt herself.

It could just be that she's discovered a new sensation and is curious about it! :)

When Oliver discovers something new (he's only 10 weeks though) he does it OVER and OVER again!
